bluesgolfer Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Just received a new 2009 H-137. The fixed bridge is designed to intonate for a wound g string so the stock bridge must go. My Luthier told me to find a PRS fixed bridge that PRS puts on their SE guitars. He also told me to find TonePros compression studs. Anybody know where these items can be purchased new at reasonable costs? Thanks
JohnCovach Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 You might try the pigtail bridge/tailpiece with the tone pros studs (the ones that have the top that screws down). Try www.stewmac.com for that.
High Flying Bird Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Here is another option. I really like this bridge. It's very well made. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_tailpieces/Electric_guitar,_non-trem_tailpieces/Schaller_Bridge_Tailpiece.html
GuitArtMan Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Let me check my parts drawer - I think I might have a set of TonePros compression studs I bought for a project that never happened. I had the 2nd H-137 Second Edition made - they came stock with the Pigtail bridge back then. http://www.pigtailmusic.com/Products.php I MUCH preferred it to the later TonePros bridge.
bluesgolfer Posted December 31, 2012 Author Posted December 31, 2012 Both the Scaller and Pigtail look nice. However, my Luthier loves the PRS SE fixed bridge wrap around. He feels the nonadjustable saddles of the PRS SE are best for sustain especially when used with the TonePros compression studs. Just need to know where I can get a PRS SE bridge without getting raped.

TalismanRich Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Faber makes a compensated wraparound tailpiece.
JackBaruth Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I didn't realize there was such a thing as a PRS "SE" adjustable bridge. I have the regular PRS adjustable bridge on my PRS Korina Limited. It's made in Maryland and costs $300. I Googled for such a thing but have only found the US-made one. Any links to the SE bridge?

bluesgolfer Posted December 31, 2012 Author Posted December 31, 2012 Still need to know where I can find a PRS SE bridge. Thanks
GuitArtMan Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 PRS store - that wasn't too difficult. http://www.prsaccessories.com/collections/se-parts/products/se-stoptail-bridge
bluesgolfer Posted December 31, 2012 Author Posted December 31, 2012 PRS store - that wasn't too difficult. http://www.prsaccessories.com/collections/se-parts/products/se-stoptail-bridge Yes. Was aware of that. They have been closed through the Holiday and won't open till Wednesday. Thought I might be able to find a retailer open with them to save a few days. Thanks for the Heads up. Their price sure beats what people are asking for them on ebay by a lot.
TalismanRich Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 http://www.ebay.com/itm/PRS-SE-Wraparound-Bridge-With-Posts-And-Body-Inserts-/160931587517?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item25784525bd They also show up on Ebay as well. I saw some at $125. This one is at $70 BIN.
TalismanRich Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 One other option is the Wilkinson GTB bridge. It allows you to intonate the G and B strings. They aren't expensive, so if you can't find the PRS, this might be an option. http://www.eyguitarmusic.com/Wilkinson-GTB-Lite-BridgeAluminium_p_885.html
fretless Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 oh , just had a thought , IIRC the PRS is 10" radius and Heritage is 12"
bluesgolfer Posted January 2, 2013 Author Posted January 2, 2013 oh , just had a thought , IIRC the PRS is 10" radius and Heritage is 12" Yes, I was wondering if that would be a problem. My instincts tell me shouldn't be, but I'll check with my Luthier today. Thanx
Guest HRB853370 Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Still need to know where I can find a PRS SE bridge. Thanks Why dont you try Ebay, sellers on there will be as fair and competitive as ANYWHERE!
bluesgolfer Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 Why dont you try Ebay, sellers on there will be as fair and competitive as ANYWHERE! Thanks Slammer. I neglected to jump on the one I saw on ebay for $125.00, with studs. Instead I bought a brand new one from PRS for $48.00, w/o studs. Ordered tone pros studs that match up with the PRS SE stoptail bridge, some $40+. Got the brass studs from Marqui Distribution after speaking with a guy there who was very informative. He said the steel studs would promote a brighter tone and the brass a little warmer tone. He said the difference is very noticeable. He thought the brass studs would match up better tonally with the PRS SE bridge, the P90's, and the Korina on the H-137. Although the PRS SE was made for a 10" inch radius neck, my luthier said it should not be a problem on my 12" radius neck and he can always file as needed if at all necessary. Take care.

fretless Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 call me crazy but I just put in TP's brass bushing for the heck of it and I freakin love it ! I also did not push them down all the way but left them flush . The guitar sounds better than ever ! Big warm thick notes , perfect clarity and well defined tones between the pickups . Crazy ?
