Hi folks. Been looking at Heritage guitars for quite some time. Just picked up a 2001 H575 in antique natural. Only been playing it for a short time, but really dig it. Quick question: There is no strap button. I'm thiking that the place to add one would be on the back at the base of the neck. Any recommendations?

Great entrance. Good looking guitar.

There have been some good threads on the topic of strap buttons. There is some thought that having the button on the heel tips the guitar away from the player. I have a sixteen inch hollow body and the factory placed the button on the back near the heel. It certainly does not hang as well as a solid body with an upper horn.

Enjoy.

Welcome Chuckb to the collective. The 575 is my preferred Heritage model. Yours is beautiful!

I find that the strap at the top of the body gets in the way too often. The 575 will balance just as well with the pin on the back of the guitar and free the neck joint for more important objects, like your thumb.

Welcome aboard chuckb. You picked a great looking model to get started. Beauty!

There has been a few threads on button location on the sight. Boils down to personal preference.

And how you like to let it hang so to speak.

Hey,

welcome to the club.

That is a beautiful Heritage but I also see you have a vintage G&L sc-2. Those are one of my favorite G&L's.

Welcome and enjoy,

Thanks. The sc-2 is one of my faves too. I've got about 5 G&Ls and this one is the best in terms of playability and tone.

Are the other G&L's older like the sc-2? There are many G&L fans here at the HOC.

You have some fine guitars,

I have an older L-1000 bass from the early 80's, but the others are 90's and newer.

Welcome, that is a nice guitar. I actually prefer the button on the treble side of the neck heel. But as been stated previoiusly, it really is a matter of personal preference.
