Thundersteel Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Hi all! Well, I made it back from Jay's store--what an awesome experience! I spent about 3 1/2 hours there yesterday (Saturday) with my Dad. I could have stayed there the entire day! They have a HUGE selection of Heritages, G&Ls, etc. I would have been happy taking any Heritage home with me. Jay & Graham are the nicest and most helpful people in the music industry that I have ever met. They answered all my questions, never pressured me in any way, and were very knowledgeable & patient. Graham made us some of his "special roast" coffee, and Jay told me some fantastic stories about Heritage and Rendal Wall. He has an entire binder full of Heritage pictures and memorabilia. Jay said he wished he could spend more time on this website, but he said he could type nonstop for a full day and still not have said everything he could about Heritage! If anyone has not had the opportunity to visit or call Wolfe Guitars, I suggest you do so. They are The Heritage gurus! Oh--I did buy a couple of guitars from them. I must have tried out about 20 guitars, and I eventually narrowed it down to two. My Dad jokingly suggested, "Why don't you just get both of them?" So I did! At this time, I'd like to say THANK YOU, DAD! He was with me during the entire 12-hour trip, and we had an excellent time together. I bought an H575 Custom, and an H150CM LW--the pictures are from Jay's website--they are much more beautiful in person (I haven't had the chance to take my own photos yet). Enjoy! Thundersteel Posted October 21, 2007 Author Posted October 21, 2007 Follow-up: 1. For those who don't know; Graham is on the left; Jay is on the right. 2. For Dick Seacup & Gitfiddler: the HRW switch tips are only available from Heritage--you need to call Rendall Wall to see if he can get them for you. 3. For Jazzalicious: that used Eagle you were inquiring about is VERY sweet! It's like new--no dings or scratches whatsoever. It sounds great! To my ears, it's comparable to the H575--I think you'd be happy with either one.
squawken Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Sweet 150! What color is that? And what pickups? I was just fantasizing yesterday about travelling to FLA to go to the store. Maybe someday. Does he have a lot of used Heritages?
Gitfiddler Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Great trip summary! Sounds like you and your Dad had a very special time together. That may be worth even more than those two gorgeous new guitars you scored. And as far as the HRW switch tip, I'm cool with the one that came with my H555. It is such a fantastic instrument, I can live with her without changing a thing. I know if I took a trip to Wolfe's, something would be there to seduce me into more financial doom!
golferwave Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 You sure picked out a couple of real beauties! It sounds like you had a great time with your Dad. My Dad passed away 7 years ago and I miss him every day. I haven't been able to visit the store yet but I've purchased many Heritages from Jay and had the opportunity to visit with him at the Orlando guitar show a couple of years ago and I share your opinion of him. Enjoy the new guitars!
Thundersteel Posted October 22, 2007 Author Posted October 22, 2007 Sweet 150! What color is that? And what pickups? The color is Burnt Amber, and the pups are SD59s. It's a hollow body, so it has a nice woody tone to it. Does he have a lot of used Heritages? As far as I know, he has a few. I really enjoyed my time. Same time, next year? Hmmm................
skydog Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 You should have included a pic of you and your father holding the new acquisitions.
Dick Seacup Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Great report, Tsteel. Thanks for the tip on the, uh, tip. I sent an email to Ren a couple of weeks back, but never heard anything. It's not a big issue, and I figure they have more important things going on anyway. Looks like you picked a couple of very nice guitars!
JohnCovach Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 The guitars look great, but tell me more about the coffee!
jazzalicious Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Hey thanks Thundersteel!! Sounds like a trip I would love to take. Did you also try that 575 Mahogany, and compare the Eagle with it? Can't wait to find out what's going on with the boys from K-ZOO. Jazzalicious
