Hardware change on my 575

I took the 575 I bought from Lance from Gold to Nickel and I think it emphasizes the beauty and simplicity of the instrument. On the other hand, I like the gold on the sweet 16, it is a fancy guitar with inlays and multi binding. It depends what aspect you are trying to highlight. Bringing out the warmth of the walnut seems like a great reason.

(I am keeping the gold hardware from the 575 in the unlikely event that I sell or trade her, I can easily imagine someone preferring fancier trim appropriate to a one-off instrument)

Please sell the gold harware to GPuma until the day arrives that you need it back. When that time comes, you can trade him for the nickel hardware that is currently on your 575 (but that will be removed prior to selling her).

talk about brokerage!

but jokes apart, Ned, shoot me a PM if you think it is feasible. In case you want to keep your old hardware, could you please tell me where you got the nicked tailpiece?

It came from another HOC'r who was switching over to G style hardware. I bought new machines but kept the ebony knobs.

You might consider putting a WTB on the sale/trade forum. Who knows what is in the collective parts bin. The nickel one came up this way - the person who posted the WTB didn't follow through and I lucked out. Happened a few months ago, but I can't find the tread.
