schundog Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 Is this the for sale area? I'll answer for you. NO
barrymclark Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Wow Mr. Barrymclark, that is a beaut I fell in love with this guitar at first sight. I lusted after it for a year and finally got it. If there was ever a me guitar, this is it.
Genericmusic Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Mr. Skydog52, I've had my share of sunbursts over the years. My favorite being a mid 60's ES-335 Gibby but I have to tell you that is the nicest sunburst I've ever seen.

I was able to get this sweet guitar through a great transaction with 2bornot2bop. I love it!
gnappi Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Let me see what you guys have! Also, I'd be interested in seeing what type of music you play with yours, what type of strings (flatwound, etc) and where it fits in your stable of guitars. Any other Heritage Archtop is welcome, as well, but I'm really wanting to see some different 575s. Here's my 575 with its cousins my Gibson ES-175 and Aria Herb Ellis
ingeneri Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 The one that got away, 575 modded with Lollar P90s:
soybean Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Wow Mr. Barrymclark, that is a beaut I agree. That is a very striking guitar. What does it say on the label?
soybean Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 By the way, that's a 575 Custom in my Profile photo, but it doesn't seem to enlarge when you click it. Anyway, I have two 575s and a 576. The H575 is my favorite jazz guitar.
barrymclark Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 I agree. That is a very striking guitar. What does it say on the label? Thank you. I just love that guitar. The lable says only 575, the finish of the top (antique natural), the pickups installed (Seth Lovers) and the s/n.
kidsmoke Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Gio, where are you? Get a pic of that Walnut 575 up here, outfit the way the Parsons St crew intended (before you...ahem...improve it with gold hardware)
kidsmoke Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 This is the one. Right here . Light on the bling, but not on attitude. gorgeous. This guitar presented itself to you this way? You didn't spec it out?
Number8 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 I've actually saved these pictures to my desktop. I'm going to start a "575 kitty" and one day (not soon) I will take these pics to 225 Parsons and have them make me this. My only mods will be Seth Lover pups and an ebony fretboard. This one does not have a lot of pearl or multilayer binding, but it grabbed me the first time i saw it and it still grabs me every time I look at it. Gold on Amber, HRWs, couldn't ask for anything more.
H Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 The H tailpieces aren't available anymore, I'm afraid.
Number8 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 The H tailpieces aren't available anymore, I'm afraid. Ebony tailpiece perhaps?
kidsmoke Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 The H tailpieces aren't available anymore, I'm afraid. I don't understand that. It seems there is a demand for them, as it keeps coming up in archtop discussions. There are hundreds of shops capable of this sort of fabrication, domestically. I wonder what the issues are? Either demand ISN'T there...or what? (just thinking out loud...rhetorical ruminating)

(just thinking out loud...rhetorical ruminating) I read in another forum that they stopped making the "H" tailpieces because they were breaking free at the hinge joint, and they couldn't solve the problem without a re-design. My 575 has one but I'd like to get a new replacement from Heritage just in case mine breaks.

mark555 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 I don't own one but enjoy playing Peter Greens's when I visit. There are some lovely guitars posted on this thread.

(just thinking out loud...rhetorical ruminating) I came to learn today from my local guitar shop that the Heritage rep says that the manufacturer that made the H tailpiece went out of business; that's why they don't use them anymore. (This doesn't answer why someone else doesn't start making them though.)
kidsmoke Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 I came to learn today from my local guitar shop that the Heritage rep says that the manufacturer that made the H tailpiece went out of business; that's why they don't use them anymore. (This doesn't answer why someone else doesn't start making them though.) Well, yes and no. As a jack of all trades for a metal stamping and wireform manufacturer for a decade and a half, I can tell you that the quoting/tooling/development process can be a full time job for someone for a while. Then there is the issue of tooling costs and ownership. All very much a case by case situation. If Heritage didn't own the dies or tooling ( I need to see one to know...is this form and plated sheet. or a casting? either could involve signifcant/costly tooling) then that could seal it right there. For several hundred units a year, at little to no margin for Heritage, tooling alone could make the whole thing prohibitive. Even WITH tooling in hand, many new vendors wouldn't touch it, unless they had the EXACT same equipment to utilize it, and even THEN may not want to take a chance. So yeah, a vendor going out of business could be a mortal blow for something so low volume and proprietary. Shame.
Spectrum13 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I really like the tailpipe on my Steiner 575
schundog Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 My 2007 from Wolfe's. [img=http://i715.photobucket.com/albums/ww155/ctcpete/023.jpg] Whoa, Pete, somehow I missed seeing that you had that beauty! Verrry nice!

I am very pleased that you like my little "Goldie"; I believe the finish on the back and sides is "Burnt Amber' although the only finish indicated is "Gold Top". This is the one. Right here . Light on the bling, but not on attitude. gorgeous. This guitar presented itself to you this way? You didn't spec it out? I completely agree with you Mr. Barry Clark's 575 is my HOC favorite, followed closely by Mr. John Covach's shaded top 575 with custom inlay and Mr. Skydog's Beautiful Sunset burst. This is one of the greatest things about the HOC, we frequently have the opportunity to enjoy each other's Heritage guitars, if only vicariously.
