schundog Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 575 BlueBurst "Nep Tune" (Seths): 575 Antique Natural "Quilt Top" (HRW's)" You REALLY need to try to get some unique, stunning guitars, Tim, not just these everyday, run-of-the-mill gits, haha.
soybean Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 The same thing is true with Gibson L5 tailpieces. I've seen a few of them broken or cracked around the hinge. Nine times out of 10, the break is caused by loose screws, not an actual defect in the tailpiece. I read in another forum that they stopped making the "H" tailpieces because they were breaking free at the hinge joint, and they couldn't solve the problem without a re-design
barrymclark Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 This is the one. Right here . Light on the bling, but not on attitude. gorgeous. This guitar presented itself to you this way? You didn't spec it out? Indeed it did! I don't believe I have it in my to come up with something this amazing looking! LOVE the darker burnt amber (?) on the rim! I completely agree with you Mr. Barry Clark's 575 is my HOC favorite, followed closely by Mr. John Covach's shaded top 575 with custom inlay and Mr. Skydog's Beautiful Sunset burst. This is one of the greatest things about the HOC, we frequently have the opportunity to enjoy each other's Heritage guitars, if only vicariously. Thanks man!
Hfan Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Whoa, Pete, somehow I missed seeing that you had that beauty! Verrry nice! Thanks Brian. Bought in 2007 at X Mas time, was a form of rewarding myself for enduring another year of corporate torture. I had a firm conviction to take jazz lessons..will get right to that one of these days... On the bright side it is like new.
schundog Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 Thanks Brian. Bought in 2007 at X Mas time, was a form of rewarding myself for enduring another year of corporate torture. I had a firm conviction to take jazz lessons..will get right to that one of these days... On the bright side it is like new. I hear you, Pete. I bought and sold my pretty Ibanez AF-105; TWICE! It's still hanging up at the pawnshop if I decide to pick it up again, and they would let me have it for the $375 or so I got for it BOTH times I sold it, haha. I buy way too many Truefire courses, with the best of intentions, of course. However, there are several listed here that have given me some good information as a starting point for Jazz. Fingerboard Breakthrough by Howard Morgan is a great course for ANY guitarist, and is a real eye opener. Frank Vignola's Jazz 1-2-3 and Next Steps courses are good, too, if you are a beginner in the genre like me. C'mon, man, put those textbooks down and take some time for YOU! http://truefire.com/jazz-guitar-lessons/
2bornot2bop Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 575 BlueBurst "Nep Tune" (Seths): 575 Antique Natural "Quilt Top" (HRW's)" now that's one exotic pair. the top one reminds me of Bali and the bottom one was definitely made with a Tahitian hut in mind.
bmw2002 Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 First time poster here! I purchased the 1994 H-575 on the left about a month ago and am really enjoying playing it. It needed some love when I got it, so it got a new bone nut, frets crowned, polished and leveled, and a truss rod adjustment. Now it's one terrific jazz box. The guitar to the left is my 2009 Tom Painter P-175. Tom is a luthier located in Maine who specializes in very thin laminate archtops (kind of an early 60's vibe). Between the two, I think I've got the ES-175 palette pretty much nailed. Look forward to reading and participating in this terrific forum -- been a member over at jazzguitar.be for awhile. Best. Michael
