TalismanRich Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Slammer knows the hot places to be, and he managed to drag me out of my comfy-cosy Hampton Inn, away from American Idol auditions and reruns of Law and Order, to a little place in Greenville called Smileys for Blues Jam Nite! Luckily, I had a spare guitar in the back of the car. He was packing a black thunder stick with the words "The Heritage" across the top. Twin Heritages took to the stage in a musical event so incredible that it will be talked about for at LEAST 3 minutes after we left! Don't say it didn't happen..... Oh yeah, it was a blast! Many thanks to Slammer for the invite!
Number8 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 #1) Awesome. Looks like good times. #2) That bass loooks HUGE. Is that just a warped perspective from the camera angle, or it there something unconventional going on there?
High Flying Bird Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 It looks like more fun than I have been having tonight. I might have to sell a guitar to afford a Photoshop upgrade. Rich, if you ever get close to Huntsville........
bolero Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 ha, great stuff!! good to see you guys putting those to good use...what tunes did you play?
Genericmusic Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 ...That bass looks HUGE. Is that just a warped perspective from the camera angle, or it there something unconventional going on there? Pre-tell my friend, I understand that some Heritage's are so HUGE that one lays them on the floor and plays with their feet.
schundog Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 All RIGHT, Rich and Will, way to represent the brand! Rich is one of those nice, quiet guys at PSP that is hell-on-wheels with a guitar, electric or acoustic. Will never gets to play guitar at our events, because his rhythm skills are too valuable on drums/bass. Poor guy. P.S. For a place called Smileys, you guys look WAY too serious!
fxdx99 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Awesome! Very cool that you were there on jam night, Rich. Nice pics - looks like a blast.
Guest HRB853370 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 But Rich did not disclose that the three of us (Rich, myself and Marie) met at another blues type place nearer to his hotel for .50 wings and dollar drafts! Boy did we chow down! Rich didn't drink any beer, but I sure did! Marie was driving so she had two drinks. Rich was concerned about what to play-I told him not to worry, somebody would get up there and play and sing something and we would all just fall in. We had one drummer that was too busy, then the second drummer was right in there! Rich was great-he knew exactly what to play on the tunes. I think one was Merle Haggard, another was a slow blues 12 bar, another was "cant you see" (Marshall Tucker) and the 4th I cannot remember. Shundog-Thanks for the compliments on my rhythm playing-one day I am gonna get a chance to play some git on that stage!!
TalismanRich Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 We started off with Can't You See - Marshall Tucker (WIll and I thought we were playing Kansas City at first it was a bit hard to understand the guy), then Knockin on Heavens Door, and then a Merle tune that I have never heard. Can't remember the 4th one, but ended up with Shine Your Love Light. When you haven't played in front of people in years and going in somewhat "ill prepared", the nerves pop up. I didn't really relax until the 4th song. I think I even smiled once on the last song! I could tell that Will was in his element. He's always rock solid. Its a really cool place, not too big, and wasn't too loud.
TalismanRich Posted January 25, 2013 Author Posted January 25, 2013 Here's something funny... I didn't really pay a whole lot of attention to the amp that we used Wed night. The guitarist just said "its a tube amp" and it had two channels. I figured it was one of the Fenders... there are so many variations. I know it sounded "familiar", and pretty good at that. I only used the clean channel, as it was set up for his Tele and as soon as I hit the humbuckers, I could hear it give a little breakup. When I looked at the pictures, I realized it was a Peavey Delta Blues. Since I have a Classic 30, that might be why it sound familiar.

He used it during our December gig too! The Delta Blues is a single channel amp Rich. I have the 2x10 version.
Hfan Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 You guys have all the fun and for 50 cent wings and dollar drafts I would walk to Carolina.
