mdp0430 Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Hi, I can't tell if this Tonepros bridge and stop are Nickel or Chrome. Seems way too shiny to be Nickel, which is what I had asked for. What do the gurus think? (The pickups are aged nickel Antiquities) Thanks!
Millennium Maestro Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 if your pup in thew pic is nickel, my guess is they are chrome
tbonesullivan Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Those look to be chrome. I don't see any kind of tarnish at all. Also Chrome has the bluish tint, when compared with nickel, which is a bit more yellowish. It isn't quite silver colored.
mdp0430 Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 That's what I was afriad of! Heritage and Wolfe should have picked up on this. They also got the tuners wrong. Not a happy camper right now. I'm also wondering whether I got the bone nut that I also asked for...

tbonesullivan Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 well, it's also all relative. the "antiquity" humbuckers are almost yellow, IMHO. They could make standard nickel look almost like chrome. Also, i've got some guitars that have nickel and chrome, and it looks fine together. no more annoying than the various different colors of "cream" plastic on most guitars. I mean, you've got neck binding one color, body binding another, pickguard another, and rings another. 4 colors of cream on one guitar! w00t!

A good way to find out if a material is bone or tusk or ivory versus plastic is to heat a needle till the top glows red and touch the material in an inconspicuous spot with the tip. If the point sinks in it's plastic. Bone, Ivory or tuck will not melt.
