bobmeyrick Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 A couple of weeks ago I popped in to Music Inn in Nottingham to drop off some Jazzsteps leaflets when I noticed a Heritage H140 hanging on the wall. The price was very reasonable, but could I justify adding another one to the herd? I decided I could if I moved on a few of the ones I don't use, so yesterday the deal was done where I swapped a few lesser guitars and a small amount of cash for this beauty. It's quite loud acoustically, with a good natural sustain, and sounds great plugged in.
SouthpawGuy Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Nice, love those early ones with the florentine cutaway, it looks to be in great condition. Congrats.
houndhome Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 What a beauty, congratulations. One that I didnt know in the U.K. and a lovely early instrument
Steiner Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 That's a beautiful 140. Is it 1 piece top and back?
bobmeyrick Posted February 3, 2013 Author Posted February 3, 2013 Thanks for all the compliments! What a beauty, congratulations. One that I didnt know in the U.K. and a lovely early instrument The serial number starts with an "R", which indicates a 2001 model, so perhaps not that early an instrument. That's a beautiful 140. Is it 1 piece top and back? The top is indeed a one-piece, while the back is a two-piece - you can just about see the join running from the top of the cutaway.
brentrocks Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 love the 1st Gen 140s....i have a H 147 incoming, the same year as yours....i share your excitement!!!
skydog52 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Congratulations on getting the deal done. You have a classic beauty.
houndhome Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Sorry misreading the serial no.I thought it read E until looking again now
SouthpawGuy Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Sorry misreading the serial no.I thought it read E until looking again now Same here, I also read it as an E.
bobmeyrick Posted February 3, 2013 Author Posted February 3, 2013 Sorry misreading the serial no.I thought it read E until looking again now Same here, I also read it as an E. I know what you mean - I'd prefer the serial number to be stamped into the wood. The silver ink always seems a bit "fragile" and indistinct to me.
pegleg32 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 That is a great looking guitar, and like others, I prefer the florentine cutaway.
koula901 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Gorgeous! Does it say what the finish is? Looks to be something like an ice tea.
Guest HRB853370 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 If I ever ended up with a 140 I would want to be THAT!
bobmeyrick Posted February 3, 2013 Author Posted February 3, 2013 Gorgeous! Does it say what the finish is? Looks to be something like an ice tea. ASB - Antique Sunburst.
bolero Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 very nice!! I dig the older florentine cutaways too, wish they still made the H140's like that
TalismanRich Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Excellent snag. I really like the 140s. From the pics, that one looks to be in very good shape.
