Billgelder Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Does anyone have any advise on how to fix the issue of the strap (that holds the top to the bottom) on the guitar case from sticking out when you close the case? I can push it in with my hand as I'm closing the case, but half the time I forget. I have two cases that do this, the Les Paul Standard and the H-535, the others work fine.
Billgelder Posted February 4, 2013 Author Posted February 4, 2013 Sticking my tongue out. Sorry spell correct thought I wanted tough not tongue.
ridethatbike Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 My Huss & Dalton case almost has like a cardboard inside the strap. That way it folds in everytime. It must be two pieces because it "hinges" nicely when you close the case. I hope that makes sense, if not I'll take a video and post it up.
Hfan Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I've had that issue too, gave up on it, works ok as is...there is an extreme tool that can be implemented as a last resort, scissors.. Seriously, maybe a little poly urethane or similar at the point of the fold, then hold it in the desired direction for a while?
Thundersteel Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I can push it in with my hand as I'm closing the case, That's what I do. I do it so often it's become routine.
JimWhite Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 That never happened to my Heritage case but I did have another case that always tried to stick its tongue out. I was able to iron the crease in the middle so that it preferred sticking in instead of out. Use an old book covered with a towel as an ironing board. The strap looks synthetic (rayon?) on my Heritage case so don't make the iron too hot. And of course, keep the guitar in another room during the ironing. Good luck.
SouthpawGuy Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 One of these ? Leave it for a couple of hours.
Guest HRB853370 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I expect the strap to stick out on all my cases (even though some do it more often, just to sneer at me I presume) so I stick it in by hand each time. Just don't get your fingers caught when you close the case!
Billgelder Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 Tried a paperclip in the case for 3 days, no luck. Tried to iron it but could not get the right angle without the case closing. Anything else I can try.
