Comparing Gibson Historic Reissue to Current H150!

I also noticed another difference today. It looks as though the the maple top is thinner on a Heritage H150.

You can see it in the lower cutaway. Although the binding seems a little bigger on the Heritage you can

still see about 1/4" more maple below the binding on the Historic Les Paul. I just happened to catch that

by accident as I was cleaning the Heritage which was covered in spoodge from yesterdays gig:)

Check the photo...

Interesting plexirocker was telling me at PSP that the 50s Lester's had a thinner cap than new gtrs

I'll take pics of my 94 h150 tonight to compare

Would it be more accurate to check the inner cavity under the neck pickup for comparing/measuring Maple thickness of the Gibson vs Heritage?

Since these are hand sanded and shaped, it might be more a variation from unit to unit. Once its rough carved, they shape it on the hand belt sander, and I'm sure all are a little different. Some seem to have more of a dish than others.

Of course a CNC shaper would be more consistent.

Yep, agreed!!

Wouldn't be surprised if the vintage Lester's are the same

Its not a big deal to me they both sound great!!

Does the 150 have long or short shafts? I would like to use an RS volume/tone pot kit in my 20th Anniversity with jensen caps.. .015 for the neck and .022 for the bridge.
