houndhome Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Follow up to previous post re-H150 from Connecticut,it finally landed here on my doorstep in the U.K.today.I've tried to wait patiently but it hasn't been easy.To those who thought it was an Ultra yes you were right it is and a real beauty.I still like the look of Rockabillys new H150 but this Ultra is quite something to look at.Haven't had time yet to put it through my Fender Twin but looking forward to comparing it with my 1981 Silverburst Les Paul Custom. I was trying to wait patiently for arrival but still slipped and bought a 1934 Martin O-17.GAS is a terrible affliction.
houndhome Posted February 5, 2013 Author Posted February 5, 2013 Please see the ebay pics on previous post.I will post pics but since I still use an Olympus film camera this will take a little while owing to developing delay. The pics are in the camera already though.
houndhome Posted February 5, 2013 Author Posted February 5, 2013 I'm very old fashioned,sometimes use a 1936 Leica
Guest HRB853370 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 FILM???? PPPFFFFFFF!!!!! Dont laugh, I have an 8 track player...
Blunote Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Dont laugh, I have an 8 track player... So do I. Don't think I have any 8 track tapes though. Back to OP: I'm curious -what pickups came in the H555 you recently acquired?
DetroitBlues Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Dont laugh, I have an 8 track player... Pretty high tech for you isn't Will? Thought you were a HiFi record player guy?
Blunote Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I'm curious to hear how you like the HRWs in the H150. I'm a big fan of them, but haven't hear them in a solid body. Mine are in a semi-solid Millennium Standard Ultra, and I have another set in an H535 where they sound fantastic.
Blunote Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Pretty high tech for you isn't Will? Thought you were a HiFi record player guy? Will, he's referring to "High Fidelity"...that stuff before stereo came into vogue.
MartyGrass Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Will, he's referring to "High Fidelity"...that stuff before stereo came into vogue. Funny how something that was such a cutting edge term now seems derogatory. If I told you the HRWs sound hi fi, you would think that's bad. If I told you my Gibson ES-355 is stereo, you wouldn't be impressed at all. But if I claimed my pickups were scatterwound by hand, that may catch your interest. It's a sick world and I'm a happy guy. End of hijack.
High Flying Bird Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I'm very old fashioned, sometimes use a 1936 Leica Is it true that your grandfather got the Leica and a half bottle of wine off a German soldier?
brentrocks Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Dont laugh, I have an 8 track player... i would expect that from you...i bet you still have sheepskin drum heads too dont ya?
bolero Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 HIFI is making a comeback....people are realizing how crap mp3's really are, and higher digital resolution standards are on the horizon back on-topic, get theat film developed!! haha would love to see some analog pics congratulations
tonedeaf Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I'm very old fashioned, sometimes use a 1936 Leica I can sympathize, I just recently put away my Contax and went digital.
rockabilly69 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Jeesy Creesy, have somebody take a pic with their phone! Congrats on getting your guitar, I have to wait till Monday till I get mine, and I'm going bananas!
bobmeyrick Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I'm very old fashioned, sometimes use a 1936 Leica Nothing wrong with that - despite having gone digital nearly a decade ago, I still have a substantial collection of film cameras - three Mamiya TLRs, a couple of Bronica ETRS's, Nikon F4S, F3, F90X, F801, F3, FM2N, Olympus OM4, OM2 Spot Program, OM1, a couple of RC35 rangefinders, Canon 7 rangefinder, Voigtlander Bessar R, Bessa L. They take up less space than the same number of guitars. The Bessa L is the nearest thing to a 1936 Leica - it's not even a rangefinder, you use the scale to focus. When we recently had some snow I loaded it up with a roll of Ilford FP4 and headed out to Wollaton Park n Nottingham... Here's the camera. Apologies for going slightly off topic, and I may have said this before, but as guitarists we are surely more comfortable with knobs and dials, rather than menus. Using a camera like a Bessa or a Leica is the photographic equivalent of plugging a Telecaster straight into a Fender Champ - a lot of fun and you concentrate on your playing/photography!
houndhome Posted February 6, 2013 Author Posted February 6, 2013 Keep film going!!But I bet the OM2 Spot-program eats batteries,I know mine does. Sorry this is off topic,I'll try and control it.
SouthpawGuy Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 ot on the HOC is what makes it the HOC ! I went digital about five years ago, have a Canon AE-1 around somewhere.
SouthpawGuy Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Oh and just in case no one has mentioned it .....
High Flying Bird Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 This is my only film camera. My uncle bought it when he was stationed in the UK in the late 50's. Notice he has the Combat Infantryman's Badge. Not many Airmen have those. I only shot one roll of film through it before I retired it.
