My uncle bought it when he was stationed in the UK in the late 50's.

Where was he stationed, Ron? There's a former US airbase next to the village I live in.

Lakenheath Air Base.

Ah, not the former base I'm near but only 50 miles away nonetheless :)

Bob, you have issues with collecting stuff! I have a Canon AE-1 and a Kodak Instamatic 133 which my dud bought me when I was 8 before they were sold in the UK, he had been in Europe to a big industrial exhibition and Kodak were there. You can't even get a cartridge for it these days.

Ah, the old Instamatic! I had one of them years ago. Funnily enough, the people I stay with when I go to the Brecon Jazz Festival gave me an old Instamatic camera last year, and I have a couple of unopened film cartridges which used to belong to my father. I might just get round to taking some photos with the Instamatic... If I do, I'll post them in the Family Tree. Amazingly there are people who put 35mm film into old 126 cartridges and take photos!

The AE-1 is something of a classic. When Canon introduced their autofocus system, they changed the lens mount, so the old FD (manual focus) lenses won't fit on the EOS (autofocus) mount. Nikon kept their F-mount, so even the latest DSLRs can take manual focus Nikon lenses, though there are limitations to focussing and metering.

Right. Back to guitars...
