22Frets Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Question: If you live in Az., as I do, where do you go to try one? I really like the H157 model, especially as Gibson uses Richlite instead of Ebony for the fretboard. Before I lay down a couple of grand+, I would really like to try one, wrap my hands around to see if it feels good. Any are trailers located in Az., the land of desert and 100+ degrees? Thanks!
chico Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 On the Heritage website, there is a dealer in Mesa: Sounds Familiar, Inc. 2050 S. Roslyn Suite 1066 Mesa AZ 85208 480-830-3888 Might want to try and get a hold of them on the phone, find out what they have in stock. otherwise keep an eye on craigslist for a private seller in your area. they come up every now and then, esp. larger markets(cities)
DetroitBlues Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Its very difficult to find anyone that actually has Heritages in stock. Most dealers are stores that can order you a guitar, but don't have any to try out.
Gitfiddler Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Also check with the local Guitar Centers. They tend to pull in a nice used Heritage once in a while. Obviously they aren't a Heritage dealer though. I got a used 150 Ultra from their Phoenix story a few years back.
smaj Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Anywhere near Gold Canyon? I'll be out that way in early March.
22Frets Posted February 12, 2013 Author Posted February 12, 2013 Anywhere near Gold Canyon? I'll be out that way in early March. I'm familiar with the area. I'm really looking for a nice, sweet H-157. I would like something with an ebony board to go with my collection. Do you have something in mind?
smaj Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 i DO HAVE A NEW 157 IN AGED CHERRY BURST. WOULD SELL FOR RIGHT PRICE.
Millennium Maestro Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I will be the first to tell you that the heritage 157 wil have a different neck feel throughout the years... You can find slim, medium, medium D and round profiles... What is your prefence and are you near Vegass often?
HANGAR18 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 That is just what I was going to suggest. A trip to Las Vegas might be the easiest way to try out some Heritage guitars.
Ned Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Well neighbor, one day I drove from Santa Fe to Denver and back - 12 hour windshield time - to check out a sweet 16. I used to only buy guitars that I have played. I broke the rule to buy another Heritage off this site. One of the better decisions of my life. I bet you could do well with craigslist and a willingness to hop in the car. There are some big population centers south of you. Flagstaff seems like a great place to live, by the way. Enjoy the chase.
