Glide Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I read the post about a guitar dealer closing it's doors. This dealer is retiring but there are quite a few out there that closed their doors because of the big box stores etc.. It made me think about The Heritage Guitar Co. My wish is that everyone in the HOC forum could order a brand new guitar through a dealer which A: would help keep the dealers in business and B: help Heritage stay alive. I stop and think about what Heritage does for me. They release my stress every time I pick up one of their guitars. Lead to the development of this website and gaining friendship of people who really care. Lets not forget PSP and a chance to win a guitar! Side note:Thanks to the persons involved with the website and PSP. My hope is not to upset anyone here it's just a wish. I and I think others would agree that Heritage and the Dealers need to exist.
DetroitBlues Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Unfortunately, the highly visible and popular Hamer forum didn't help them...
AP515 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Competition is a merciless master. I just got a Musicians Friend flyer in the mail. 6 pages of electric guitar ads. Two went to Gibson, one to Fender, PRS, MusicMan, ESP, Dean, Ibanez, Jackson, and Gretsch fill up the other three; each getting about a quarter page or less. For the kid who knows three power chords and wants Dad to buy him a new axe, there isn't going to be any knowledge of the other choices out there.
mark555 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 the big shops have no soul, there is something missing from them. Over here in the UK the lack of good guitar shops is dire.

rockabilly69 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I supported Jay Wolfe because he specifically orders custom Heritage guitars with what I feel are player oriented changes! He was very nice to speak with when I asked him questions about my newest H150.

brentrocks Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 A wise person once told me... "...if all the members of the HOC would order 1 new Heritage, we would be just fine..."

Guest HRB853370 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Lets not forget that Heritage is not sold in big box stores. They are sold at boutique dealers to folks who know and appreciate their superiority. That is not to say that they are not vulnerable to market forces. But look at the bright side. Supposedly, according to the Dems, we are pulling slowly out of the recession. Heritage may have struggled but has survived thus far. Couple that with the fact that they ship more than half of their production outside the USA, that bodes good for the company. I wish I had the wherewithal to make your wish come true. If I would have won the Mega lottery a month or so ago, I could have placed an order for everybody in the HOC!
smaj Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 A wise person once told me... "...if all the members of the HOC would order 1 new Heritage, we would be just fine..." I've done my part, have ordered three and received two already. It is nice to get at cost. The good Lord has smiled upon me!

smaj Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Congrat! Must be hard to decide which one to play. I play the 535 more than the 157. Can't wait to go get my new 357 though, Marv is just getting around to some.

bolero Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 well Glide06, I just ordered one, through a local dealer who runs a cool shop with a lot of quality gear. MOJO Music, in Oakville http://www.mojomusic.ca/ I feel pretty good about supporting Heritage, as well as an independant store. I'll feel even better once I get the guitar!

I just picked up my 157 about a week and a half ago. Been playing it so much that I haven't had a chance to Post a NGD.
Telenic Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Is Heritage really hurting? Or is it the dealers that are in trouble?
2bornot2bop Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 What dealer is closing his doors? I see no such post.
bolero Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 well if the dealers all go out of business, who is going to sell Heritage guitars?
