LoneFurrow Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 After asking questions about 535s and 555s earlier in the week, I made a decision to go for a new 535. It arrived about an hour ago so the first two things to do were (1) check how it feels to play (2) take some pictures to post on the forum It looks better than I expected, and I thought it looked good in the original pictures. The back of the guitar is as lovely as the front, which you'll hopefully see from one of the pics. The neck feels great, it's nicely set up with a pretty low action, very easy to play. If I were to be extremely picky, there are a few file marks in the binding on the neck, but I understand that's hardly uncommon on Heritages. It's loaded with SD '59s but I haven't gone as far as to plug it in yet, mainly 'cos I am actually supposed to be working! Very very pleased, Michael
Glide Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Congrats! great looking git. I love my 535, you won't be disappointed.
yoslate Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Congrats, Michael! Identical to mine, with the exception of a pick guard, and mine has Seths. Best guitar I've ever owned...and I've owned a bunch!
LoneFurrow Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Thanks guys, I am looking forward to spending time getting to know the 535 over the weekend. It's different to anything else I have, so should be fun. Michael
schundog Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Congratulations! I would bet that you will love it, acoustically or plugged in. They are my favorite guitar. If you don't have a guitar with the forward strap button on the back like on your 535, it can take a little bit of getting used to the feeling of the guitar "falling forward." I was always paranoid about it, and, like on most of my guitars that I am going to keep for awhile, installed Schaller strap locks on mine as soon as possible. Have a great weekend with your new guitar!
JAM Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Itza Beauty !! First one I've seen w/o a PG ! Just got mine a week ago and LOVE it !! You'll feel the same I'm sure ! Congrats ! cheers! Jim

Have a great weekend with your new guitar! Good call about the Strap Loks ! You think Schallers are the best ?? I have them on my Tele and Strat, they're great. But, I haven't tried any others and want some for my 535. Also, this is the 1st guitar I own with the strap post on the back, how do you put the strap on ? I mean do you 'reverse' the front of the strap so the top, outside, finished side (whatever you want to call it) goes on the post first facing the instrument, or do you use it just like a Strat or Tele where the backside of the strap faces the guitar? Sorry for any hi-jack but maybe the OP will find it useful as well. Cheers! Jim
Genericmusic Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Nice ax LoneFurro. I grantee that you are going to like it. @ JAM, that also is a very nice looking guitar. I hope both of you enjoy them for many years to come.
kidsmoke Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Awesome 535. I've gone sans pickguard on mine and really love it. I've got the same finish as well, and Sheptones on board. Just put it down a minute ago. JAM (Jim) I reviewed some straplocks in the thread below recently. I LOVE them, even more so after a couple weeks. They pop on and off effortlessly and are rock solid. Take a look. You need to dedicate the strap to THAT guitar however. And yes, finished side of the strap faces the back of the guitar. Lays very nicely on your shoulder and looks good to the thousands in the audience. http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/topic/21132-odds-n-ends-product-reviews/?hl=loxx&do=findComment&comment=281477
LoneFurrow Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Jim, based on my limited experience of the forum to date, hi-jacking threads is something of an art-form My 535 came with a pick-guard but it's in the case. I'm not that keen on them so will leave it as is for the moment. With regard to strap locks, I have Schallers on one guitar and Dunlops on two others. Both seem to work equally well but I've never had a 535 stylee guitar either. Michael
tonedeaf Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 If you like yours as well as I like mine, you will a happy camper indeed!!!
H Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Very, very nice Now you need a new amp for it. And a 150.
LoneFurrow Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Very, very nice Now you need a new amp for it. And a 150. Ah... well.... I was just ambling over to the amp forum to ask a question on that very subject. I'm also planning to ask about second Heritages I like the idea of a 155 rather than 150. The trouble is I also have a few others in the stable: This: These: And a couple more that still need photographing. Michael
houndhome Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Looks a real beauty, congratulations.Another one homed in the U.K.I'm still very smitten with my H555

Michael I'm not a Strat guy but that Manson is a beauty and the LP is right up there too! I'm sure we can help you with amp suggestions
LoneFurrow Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 I'm not a Strat guy but that Manson is a beauty and the LP is right up there too! I'm sure we can help you with amp suggestions Gerard Melancon does make some lovely guitars. The P90 Artist on the right of the two is frankly, a bit weird. Mahogany body, koa top, pair of Duncan stacked P90s with a 3 way mini-toggle that allows series / parallel / split wiring. Great fun! The LP is a Japanese-made Tokai Love Rock, 30th Anniversary model. Mark555 apparently has the same model. Had another play on the H535. It is the first semi-acoustic I've played in a quiet environment (i.e. not a guitar shop) and it sounds quite awesome. I love it. Just off to the amp section...
H Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Ah, misread the headstock script on the Melancon :-/ Thought it said Manson! Still my kind of guitar - my everyday guitar is a Squier Tele with a pair of P90s
drew47 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Congrats! I just got my first Heritage this week too-a 535. I'm head over heels for her. You're gonna love that guit!
