Number8 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/gallery/image/3018-pspiv-synthesized-sunshine-in-the-morning/ Obviously it's a custom, but it had to start from somewhere. What's the template?
Millennium Maestro Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 The first HOC owner on this guitar that I know was MartyGrass I think
MartyGrass Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 That's an 18" H550 that's about 1 3/4" thick. It's a hollowbody without f holes. The fretboard is ebony. The finish is stunning. I bought two guitars from this studio musician in NYC that had Heritage custom make some unique instruments. This is one of them. He had to sell his guitars when the economy tanked and his recording studio closed. I think the guitar now belongs to DCRon.
Number8 Posted February 19, 2013 Author Posted February 19, 2013 Is that mini-humbucker in there? What did it compare to sound-wise? A 535?
DetroitBlues Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 It also has a built in Roland system. I was under the impression that Rhoadescholar still owned this one. Another really cool feature is the person who ordered it had every employee who worked at Heritage at the time signed the back of it and it was sealed under the clearcoat.
DC Ron Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Yep, that's mine. The pickup is a full size Seth Lover. Cool guitar but definitely not modeled after anything I know of. Maybe somebody's dream guitar: an 18" Lucille synth?
Number8 Posted February 19, 2013 Author Posted February 19, 2013 That's amazing; so it just looks small because the body is so large. What does it sound like acoustically? What is it designed to play? Jazz, I presume?
DC Ron Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 That's amazing; so it just looks small because the body is so large. What does it sound like acoustically? What is it designed to play? Jazz, I presume? It's down for some work right now, but when I get the strings back on it I'll post a sound update. From what I recall it has a discernable but muted acoustic sound, as you would expect. As for what it was designed to play, I'm stumped. With the single neck pickup, jazz would be a good guess. Coming from a studio magician, I would guess it was intended for recording, but guitar synth is a pretty small studio market, and this guitar has too much bling to be hidden in a studio anyway. Suspect at the end of the day it was a labor of love...
DetroitBlues Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Is that mini-humbucker in there? What did it compare to sound-wise? A 535? It looks like a mini. But that guitar is HUGE. What you don't realize the man (Bob) holding it is about 6'7".... He makes it look small, but it certainly is not.
