Guest HRB853370 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Been jamming on my 137 lately. I am totally convinced this is the best Heritage ever. Its simplicity, light weight, balance, bare bones look, and raw and gritty tone just makes this axe the one I would keep if I had to sell everything else off! Now I see why some of you own more than one of these! Anybody else feel this way?
DetroitBlues Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 So firesale Will? Selling a 535 dirt cheap? Lol!
heritagefan7 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 So firesale Will? Selling a 535 dirt cheap? Lol! I already have dibs on the cherry 535 DB....Does that seem a little vulture-ish?...Sorry Will

Now I see why some of you own more than one of these! Anybody else feel this way? Mine is Korina and I do like it a lot. I was thinking of getting another in mahogany and putting a pigtail bridge on it. I know what you mean. It is very versatile. You can dial in the tone to play pretty much anything What is yours? Mahogany or Korina, 1 or 2 pickups, what bridge?
High Flying Bird Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I like the 137 but I like my daughter's 137 better. I prefer the humbucker slots and bridge set up on it better. I ended up putting Phat Cats in it before I gave it to her for Christmas. I like the Phat Cats better than the Lollar's to.
Spectrum13 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 My Korina 137 is the only Heritage I have played for the last three days. Good call Will.

Mahogoney, two lollars and a pigtail BG. If I ever aquired another it would have the pigtail bridge rather than a stoptail that is top-wrapped. With the pigtail, you can precisely intonate the beast!
Gitfiddler Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Nice 137, Will, but why the naked knobs?
Guest HRB853370 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Nice 137, Will, but why the naked knobs? I knew somebody would ask! Good eye Tim. You have heard of the "Fretless Wonder"? Well, this one is the "Knobless Wonder". When that shot was taken, I was waiting for that black set of speed knobs you graciously sent me! They are in place on the axe now and look great. Thanks again, and btw, your amp cover is in transit!
mark555 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I would love a 137 with P90's in traditional mahogany with the red finish, a killer guitar no doubt.

If I recall correctly, Heritage used to put the Pigtail on their H-137's until after the owner died.
JAM Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Best Heritage ever.. ?? Easy... MINE !! cheers! Jim
fxdx99 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Best... subjective. But, the 137 is a pretty dang fun/good guitar!
SouthpawGuy Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Not sure about "the best" but this is a nasty combination .... Mine is a heavy one, 9lbs , it can go from fat clean and jazzy on the neck pickup to raw and in your face on the bridge, with excellent sustain.
bluesgolfer Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 What do you guys think of a custom order H-137, mahogany, pigtail bridge, and with ebony board? Wondering how that might be from a tonal perspective.
gpuma Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 My Stat. I just fell in love again after the Chicago Hoc Muster

They are a different animal than the current offering and very cool. Your daughter has a nice guitar there. The newer 137 is great and nails the jr tone. Face it, Heritage has stayed consistent and just puts out really good guitars. Y2kc

Lydia is too busy with piano lessons to get her teeth too deep into the guitar but when she rebels in a few years.... and she will rebel, she will be able to tear that 137 up! I don't have the ear for music but she has the gift. I bought the guitar in September of 2010 and let her play with it thinking it was a buddy's guitar that I was working on. It disappeared at Thanksgiving. She missed the tiny guitar. The photo below was hanging on the wall at 225 Parsons last year. For this gift - way above and beyond - a moderator awarded me the, "Father's Medal." Now if I can talk her into a trade.....

It has a great bluesy tone, and sustains amazingly, is nice and light, and smaller than the 535.
