Seems like a decent 20 watt tube amp. Anyone here been exposed to one? Will it get clean? What the British opinion on these. Reportedly Made In England...any pride for this line?

They seem to keep coming up, but I don't hear much about anyone actually USING one (Laney in general)

What's the word?

Do they still make it..?? Can't find any info on it.

cheers!

I think most of the Brits are now tucked up in bed! Laney does make some nice amps, particularly (imo, of course), the current Lionheart range.

I stumbled across a YouTube video about the ProTube 3012 here -

. This example dates back to the late 80's. I'm not sure it will quite do the job if you want a nice clean tone.

I've got a TT50 combo, three channel 50 watt combo. Very nice cleans, and great od / drive tones. Made in the UK and not very heavy at all for a 50w combo.

yeah, that's a sexy looking guitar!

Laney sounds kind of like a British/Marshallesque sounding amp - duh, it's made in UK, isn't it?

That's Ernie Ball Music Man Silhouette Special. Bought it new in '96 it's an early one with Gotoh tuners and Wilkinson bridge, has custom wound DiMarzios and the Music Man Silent Circuit, i.e. it's hum free. Finish is called Pearl Green. Very light and ergonomic.

And back on topic, the Laney is a seriously good amp, has MIDI capabilities, a foot switchable solo boost and lots of EQ options, separate bass mid and treble for each channel, etc.

I tried an older Laney a couple years ago, again it was am amp that sounds best when turned up. The one I tried out was a UK model, some of theirs if not all are produced in the Far East now....

They're the same as Marshall, the higher end models are produced in the UK.
