gnappi Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Some of the upscale Heritage models have the adjustable finger tailpiece. I'm told if cranked down it aids more sustain or allows finer adjustment in tuning. I have a Howard Roberts Fusion with this tailpiece and find it does neither, does anyone have an idea why more upscale guitars have them? Is it just appearance?
High Flying Bird Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I have wondered about this since hearing about the finger tail pieces. Since I haven't laid my fingers on one I am very curious as to how they work. Richard, AKA "Pressure," has a Millie with one of these and knowing him he can explain it 6 ways to Sunday. If he doesn't sound off on this post send him a PM.
Genericmusic Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Here is an earlier discussion the the subject. http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/topic/2850-fine-tuning-tailpiece/
pressure Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Thanks for the reference but I just play the thing however the Mille does sound great. Johnny Smiths also have these tail pieces and they sound great too. I imagine a fast string change on stage wouldn't be very fast.
Gitfiddler Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 The six finger tailpiece on your Howard Roberts should add/reduce string tension. I owned one for years and appreciated the additional adjustments.
