JohnCovach Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I know some of us watch the coming and going of Heritage guitars on ebay. Has anybody else noticed that a few auctions have ended without a single bid? Some have been those kinds of dealer ads that aren't really auctions at all, but some 150s, 535s, and Sweet 16s have seen little action, while others have fetched good prices.
Dick Seacup Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 To be honest, John, I quit watching the feePay auctions. I can resist anything except temptation, and fleaBay has that in spades. :- Last time I looked, though, I thought that there were a few "good deals", a lot of "fair prices" and some "are you high?" auctions. I figured that as we get closer to November, sales will start picking up as the holiday buying starts.
AnH555 Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Seems like there's a lot of 575's out there, H150's too. I'll bet that lefty Prospect sells, as nice as it looks. Did you see that H535 with a Buy-it-Now of $2400? I watch 'em but I don't know what to make of it.
golferwave Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 The ones that end with no bids seem to be the ones with a high opening bid. The auctions starting low seem to bid up to a good price. All in all the prices seem to be up for the used ones. We'll see what happens when production fires up again.
Dick Seacup Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 That 150 with the Lollar P90s (dang it, you guys have me looking again!) is fan-freaking-tastic. Less than a K?! Man, that seems like a lot of guitar for the money.
squawken Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 I really like the 157 with EMG's, but the price seems high, as the guitar seems a bit beat up. Makes my decision easier. I also like the 150 Ultra where they are asking $1,450. I think it is going to get harder and harder to get good buys on e-bay for a heritage. I keep scouring local music stores for a lucky find on a used one. I should just head down to Jupiter, and get it over with!
JohnCovach Posted October 23, 2007 Author Posted October 23, 2007 I agree that used prices are up a bit. The guitars that fetch the best prices are those with Duncans, and standard tune-a-matic and stop tailpiece (with the archtops, harware seems to matter less). Flamey tops also do well. You're right about the opening bid. You gotta get a buyer's interest with a low opening bid--they begin watching, checking back, and hopefully convincing themselves they need that guitar.
