2bornot2bop Posted March 4, 2013 Author Posted March 4, 2013 thx all. she's been a fun change of pace from the SKB. the actual shade is tough to capture in pics. the shade is actually closer to this pic that was taken with all natural room light. it's tough getting enough light in the house for pics in the NW this time of the year.
sonar Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Stunningly beautiful! Reminds me of "The Blue Guitar" book (a project by Scott Chinery). Once I saw that book I knew blue was FINE for archtops! I played an acoustic (kinda L-5P type) Gilchrist once that was somewhat like that, but your blue is more vibrant. As nice as the Gilchrist was (c 1999 IIRC) I decided to buy my wife a new Buick instead (for about the same price)!

That Big Blue Rhapsody in Blue II would look right at home in Scott Chinery's book. I bought "The Blue Guitar" myself...after buying Will/Slammer's blue 575..."Neptune". Man, I love that gitfiddle!!
2bornot2bop Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 Yep Tim, your suggestion to buy a copy of the blue guitar collection was a good one. Just trying out a new camera that allows me to shoot indoors without using a flash. not there yet.
sonar Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Seems good enough to me! I have only my phone. The phone doesn't do justice to the beauty of my Heritage guitars. I think I may have to buy a $99 camera from Best Buy, just for guitar pictures.
Number8 Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Is this up for sale already? Someone has a blue SE that just posted on EBay and it has many of the pics posted in this thread.

Yep, sure looks like that is the case. He has burned through quite a few Heritages archtops, but has very high praise for them.
2bornot2bop Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 I only bought it to sample. The SKB is my keeper. I only need one guitar. Keyboards have been keeping me busy of late.

No need for explanation; you owe me none. I was sincerely curious whether someone was using your pictures to try to rip someone off.

Mighty nice of you. Actually I had another SE come in last week, and 3's a crowd. It's feast or famine SE week, what can I say. The blue is fun but after a while the novelty wears thin...great archtop and surely a collector's item.
sonar Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 ... blue is fun but after a while the novelty wears thin... I can relate. I once had a similiarly hued blue Gretsch 6120 that initially I thought very unique, despite the clash with its gold hardware. It was a bit like having a very cute -but crosseyed- girlfriend. Intriguing at first, but kinda nauseating, after a while. Eventually I didn't want to be seen with "her."

Novelty or cross-eyed girlfriend, I loves me some blue archtop! My blue 575 "Neptune" is sitting on the guitar stand awaiting my arrival home tonite. Come to daddy, baby blue! If I could justify or afford it, I'd grab Rhapsody and make it a threesome.
