I just placed an order for a 525 from Wolfe...standard model, with Sperzel locking tuners. Wineburst top, thinking about a different color for the back and sides. What color would work with this??

How about taking the centre colour and extending that to the back and sides ?

The centre of the VWB above looks a little darker than my 535 in golden amber, but this will give you an idea

If I were ordering a custom, I'm pretty sure it would be vintage wineburst. As far as the back and sides go, I think I'd be inclined to do a burst pattern in the same color on the neck and back.

Thanks for the ideas! I really like what Gibson did with the Johnny A. model. Burst top, and a reddish back and sides.

If you like the color of the JA, send a copy of one to Wolfe or Heritage and ask them to match it. The official name of the color is 'Sunset Burst' that Johnny selected.

The backs of all JA's are Mahogany with a trans brown stain. Heritage has a similar color but remember, the back of your 525 is going to be Maple not Mahogany. Different patterns but still nice.

Your 525 would look very cool with the suggested above. Burst that baby.

If it were mine, I'd spend the extra coin on the Choice Woods package. That and a few other options made mine very special to me.

Good luck with yours! Keep us posted.

@Southpaw: Thanks for posting pics! The good news is that she plays/sounds as good as she looks.

@Steve: No matter what options you order it will be a great guitar. You were one of the first on the HOC to get one of these, so you already know about 525's. Right Mr. Heritage525? :-)
