ghumba Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I haven't explored the innards of my Prospect, but was wondering if anyone knew if Heritage typically ships the single conductor or 4-conductor Seth Lovers with their guitars. I know it would be low output, but I'd love to try and coil tap the pickups. Obviously for this, I'd need the 4-conductor SLs. Also if anyone has done it, how do the single coil Seth Lovers sound?
High Flying Bird Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I was under the impression that Seth's were only two conductor. Main wire and shielded braid.
mars_hall Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 You can special order four-conductor Duncan Seth's through a dealer, but Heritage uses the two-conductor traditional ones.
yoslate Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Call Lindy Fralin. Tell him what you're up to, and ask for his $.03.... Lindy's "Unbucker" is a humbucker specifically designed to be coil tapped. They sound great as a 'bucker, and as a single coil!

DetroitBlues Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Yep, Seth's can be custom ordered, but I'm sure there are plenty of PAF styles out there that have a similar tone.
Heritage525 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I had pearly gates in a coil tapped mode in my 550, they were great
blueox Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 In 2010, I ordered a custom H-110 from the factory with coil-tapped SD Seth Lover pickups. To my ears, they have a great sound, and the coil-tapped mode expands the player's tonal options.
CJTopes Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Unless those are special order I doubt if they would be 4 wire. I split a set of Pearly Gates and love en to death. I'm thinking Seths might be a bit on the thin side. I have a set in my 150 and they sound great but I have no urge to split them.
