Tammuz7000 Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 is there a huge difference in these 2 models other than size? I played an h140 with seth lovers at Wolfes guitars in Tennessee and liked it. I see way more H150's for sale than the h140's. -Tom
SouthpawGuy Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Probably because there are fewer 140s out there than 150s, just guessing. I do remember when looking at new ones there wasn't really much difference in price, about $100. The 150 has trap inlays and the 140 has dots, to me the 140 has way less appeal because of that. I know the reasoning is the smaller body is lighter but when I did get a 150 it turned out to be just over 8lbs, not far off 140 weight range and probably less than some.
eljay Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 but some 140s have traps. like mine, punk kitty's old one, which she sold to skbailly, who sold to me. see this thread for pics: http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/topic/21383-1998-h140-with-traps-and-flame-top-1000/ i love my 150s; probably my favorite axes. that said, my 140 plays and sounds great. 140s also score a high kool factor based on their comparative rareness. you can't make a bad choice!
sonar Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I had a 140 I loved because the thinner body on mine howled like a banshee and was great at getting that half-cocked Wah sound (kinda like an SG gets). Otherwise it didn't sound like a SG. Just under heavy distortion and the feedback would decay into an upper harmonic easily all over the fretboard vs just a couple places. I've always been on the lookout for another like it after stupidly trading it for something that is long gone too now.
y2kc Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I am a big fan of the H-140. This guitar delivers the same message as it's beautiful brother the H-150 and at a reduced burden. I am built for comfort and the H-140 suits me fine. I have more than my share of guitars and somehow I always end up playing the Heritage H-140's and H-125's. Killer basic blues machines. Y2kc
DetroitBlues Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I had a pair of 140's, they are close to being a carved top Les Paul Special. I suppose you need to be a fan of them to appreciate them. I've had two 140's and a 150. The 150 felt right to me.... Even though my first 140 was the most beautiful Heritage I've had...
