MartyGrass Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 This old Super Eagle has a 3 3/8" depth like the Super 400. So I claim it is the largest Heritage guitar ever! Challengers? Anyway, I just picked it up from Pete Moreno, a local luthier extraordinaire. He corrected a design flaw (IMO) that is over 60 years old in the Gibson/Heritage tailpiece by placing notches in the undersurface that retains the string balls. It works very well now. In addition he put some gold covers on the P90s, just for fun. It's easy to put the originals back on. Here is the before. After.
RhoadsScholar Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Wow. I like the gold pickup covers on this one. Quite Unique and possibly the "SUPERIST" Super Eagle OUt there Nice one Mark
skydog52 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Nice Mark. Where did you get the gold covers? Do they fit Lollars? What year is that Eagle and is that a Master Volume pot?
Genericmusic Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Excuse me I can't stop drooling. That is without a doubt the nicest guitar I have ever seen.
MartyGrass Posted March 15, 2013 Author Posted March 15, 2013 Nice Mark. Where did you get the gold covers? Do they fit Lollars? What year is that Eagle and is that a Master Volume pot? I'd have to check on the date but I think it's a 1994. It is a master volume. You can search on line for gold covers. Mine came from England. A friend of mine gave them to me. They should fit Lollars.
Billgelder Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Great, now I want one. Thanks, Like I did not have enough GAS already.
Keith7940236 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 The only thing I didn't like about my GE was the tailpiece, I'm glad you found a solution. Nice pickup covers too
MartyGrass Posted March 15, 2013 Author Posted March 15, 2013 It's a 1994. Does anyone know where Heritage got their P90s before Lollars were around?
MartyGrass Posted March 16, 2013 Author Posted March 16, 2013 Great, now I want one. Thanks, Like I did not have enough GAS already. Don't sweat it. This kind of guitar is not for everyone. Few are interested really.
yoslate Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 This kind of guitar is not for everyone. Few are interested really. Heh....
bolero Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 wow that is a real looker...Marty you have a killer collection of Heritages!! every time you post pics they are droolworthy
SofaPlayer Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Wow, those gold covered P90s really look like gold bars. Goldfingers guitar. Really special and very nice!
MartyGrass Posted March 16, 2013 Author Posted March 16, 2013 Is the centurion bigger? Don't know. There's a point where bigger isn't better, just ridiculous. But there are some 19" guitars.
FredZepp Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 The Centurion is an 18" ... I think that the headstock makes it longer than a Super Eagle. The depth is the only area that it didn't match the paperwork with the details of the guitar. ... it was supposedly deeper than a Super 400, but at the rim I think was about the same... I remember that the deepest measurement inside the cutaway was 4" I think the rim was just over 3 1/4" .. .( so maybe less than the 3 3/8" on this one )
FredZepp Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 BTW.... gorgeous finish on that Super. Classic Kalamazoo Looks...
2bornot2bop Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 3 things in life are guaranteed...death, taxes, and Marty tinkering with archtops. Nice look. Kinda fun to get that one back huh!
