brentrocks Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I KNOW!!! I SAID I WAS GAS FREE....but you would have done the same thing........ The guy that i bought my THROBAK amp from, had this really sweet Firebird, and i would keep bugging him to sell it...well he finally gave in. It came in a Heritage case and it has Schaller pickups in it (what Heritage used for years) and judging by the serial #, I'm guessing its a prototype H 357. I have traced its ownership back to the second owner, I dont know who the original owner was. I am the 6th owner. The serial # that is stamped on the headstock is also stamped on the lower wing, under the pickguard. Heritage protos are usually never out of the factory, so im not sure how this one made it into the public? This baby is a road warrior. Looks to have been re-fretted at some time. Neck-thru construction, all mahogany. Rosewood board. Mini Schaller tuners. I upgraded to Tone Pros locking bridge and tailpiece. This baby plays and sounds fantastic! The neck is a medium C carve. Not terribly heavy, about 8 lbs. I told myself i wasnt going to buy anymore guitars, but this was too rare of a duck to pass up!
JeffB Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I stopped chewing at my finger nails 8 weeks ago. It isnt the first time I tried but its the longest Ive gone with out a nibble. Nice score! Looks great. Congrats
Guest HRB853370 Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Allright, I will gladly take it off your hands to alleviate the GAS problem. Then you will be fully absolved my child.
Steiner Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Nice snatch! What he says. Is it a Heritage Build?
FredZepp Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 You certainly couldn't say no to that one, Brent.... a great looking 357 with some extra proto mojo included.
brentrocks Posted March 19, 2013 Author Posted March 19, 2013 What he says. Is it a Heritage Build? i have no way of knowing if it is a Heritage build...but the Schaler pups and the Heritage case, would lead me to think yes
SouthpawGuy Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Nice one Brent. Your rare bird radar is still working 100%
PunkKitty Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 *drool* Help a sister out and send it to me. I'll even pay for shipping.
Steiner Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 i have no way of knowing if it is a Heritage build...but the Schaler pups and the Heritage case, would lead me to think yes If you run it by the factory, please let us know what Marv says. That is a unique piece.
DetroitBlues Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I have to say, after seeing all the *WOW* factor 357's, this is a more simpler looking model. To my eyes, however, the best one yet. Congrats Brent! I'd call dibs, but I'd be asking for what I can't have.
Keith7940236 Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Relaps is part of recovery!! Are you back on the wagon again?
H Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Excellent Any idea what the two pairs of additional holes on the pickguard are/were for?
Gitfiddler Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 That baby has been loved!! All kinds of beauty marks on that player. I bet is plays great. Good one, Brent!!
brentrocks Posted March 19, 2013 Author Posted March 19, 2013 Excellent Any idea what the two pairs of additional holes on the pickguard are/were for? the story goes that the 2ed or 3rd owner had a set of Barton pickups in it and there were some mini toggles in there
totonka Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I had a conversation with Marv once about serial numbers on prototype guitars, and he said they begin with "P". That, along with the 0000001 AND the Heritage case AND the proximity to Mecca AND the fact that you got it AND the fact that you said you weren't gonna buy anymore guitars are all clues which would lead me to believe you have an authentic Heritage prototype beauty!
kidsmoke Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Dude. Seriously? Marv's very first post G-brand 357? You must have been a very, very, good boy at some point. Looking forward to the clips!
Thundersteel Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Nice snatch! I was thinking of something completely different--silly me! Cool guitar, though!

Now that would be a truly unique instrument.

Thanks for that infor Victor! I was honestly kinda afraid to take it down to Heritage because of the fact that it may have left the factory under false pretences.....eventhough that was probably over 20 yrs ago....i dont know....its a touchy subject. The funny thing is i know the ownership record of this guitar from around 1990 to the present....maybe it was givent to somebody back in the day? Who knows?

Looking forward to the clips! It certainly appers that way....up until you posted that, I never really thought of it that way, but you are 100% right! Because of its "rough" condition, I was actually thinking about taking it to Pete Moreno and having it refinished in Pelhem Blue....but now, I'm thinking just a new black pickguard and maybe some locking tuners may be the way to go to preserve the vintage mojo of this fine Kalamazoo specimen.

Brent...let's face it, you done more to move units for Parsons street than their entire marketing budget and sales force combined over the last 5 years. My guess is that even if the worst case scenario were true...they'd be so thrilled and tickled that it ended up in YOUR grubby mitts, they'd have a laugh and tell you to enjoy it in good health. Obviously you know those guys way better than I, but from my exposure to the whole thing that'd be my guess.
Genericmusic Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 The laws of Karma apply here, Brent. Good on you.
