Hi all,

I'm new here. I once owned a H535 and regret selling it, but I'm making up for that error by purchasing a killer new H 150.

I'm finding it difficult to lock down the specs of the H 150 (i.e. type of mahogany, nitro vs. poly, tuner brand) and was hoping that someone could shed some light.

I know that this particular guitar has Tone Pro hardward and Seymour Duncan 59 pups.

The answers are more of a curiousity, as the guitar seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. It arrives tomorrow.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Thanks BR. And yes, more pics to follow. I'll be away from home on business tomorrow, so it will be waiting when I get home.

I hope she plays as nice as she looks. That top is just crazy. I prefer it when the burst color isn't too dark on the edges so that the wood shows through. I also love how it shows grain AND flame. The fretboard is also just how I like them.

I sold a 58 reissue LP recently and wansn't planning on replacing her. Silly me.

welcome, a killer axe for sure.

Tuners are usually Grover Rotomatics.

That's a beautiful 150, VSB really brings out the character of flamed maple.

Jay Wolfe told me he personally spec'd the Honduran Mahogany for the guitars he has made for his store.

I thought that was cool because I found out Gibson has been using Mahogany from Fiji in many of their

historics from 2006 on to keep the weight down. The Gibsons still sound great, but I like that Heritage

uses real Honduran! And Faceman congrats on choosing an H150, that's the guitar that brought me here to

the forum. As you can see by my sig, I love my H150's!!!

Hi all.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I just returned home from my business trip and the guitar is waiting for me. I haven't opened the box yet, as I want to savor the moment.

More to follow for sure.

She's out of the box and in my hands.

Does anyone know what gauge strings are installed at the factory? They are probably 10's but they feel very light. I'll have to swap them for 11's to get a truer sense of how she feels to me.

So I found out why the guitar felt a bit strange to me. It wasn't the lighter gauge strings. It's the fact that the bridge saddles have not been notched!!

Very strange.

Anyone else experience anything like this? I called the shop where I purchased it and they were as surprised as me. We are looking at options now, and it looks like I'll take it to a local tech to have the saddles notched. I won't be able to get a good feel for the guitar until then, but at least I know why it felt so strange to me. The sound was thin and was buzzy at the top frets. Has to be the lack of notches.

That's rock and roll!

Be thankful they shipped it that way. You can take it to your tech and he can notch the saddles specific to your favorite gauge and also so that the strings are exactly centered over the pickup polepieces. Centered notches don't always do that. It's a minute point but all's well that ends well!

since you have yet to notch it (something new to me, I'll admit..skydog did us all a little schooling there..) what guage string do you usually go with? someone mentioned the stock 10's, that'd be my choice to use on it. the strings on it, Ren took a can of WD40 and sprayed them down before he strung them on this..
