PunkKitty Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I can't link the diagram directly because it's copyrighted. But I can post a link. I used this wiring on one of my H170's tonight along with a set of Gibson 57 Classics. It adds a bass cut knob but gets rid of one volume control. So you end up with 1 volume, 1 treble cut (normal tone), and 1 bass cut. The bass cut knob works in reverse. At 0 you have full bass. At 10 the bass is cut and can simulate a single coil sound. This is similar to the control setup used on Reverend guitars and is a variation of a G&L diagram. So far I like it quite a bit. I don't lose any of the normal humbucking sound. But I add a SC simulation that is humbucking. Here's the link. I also added a volume kit to the volume control so I can better control the roll off of volume.
Franke Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I've been toying with something like this on my 137. I wonder how it would handle P90s... I have a G&L and to be honest I don't know why every manufacturer uses seperate treble and bass tone controls. The variability you get is outstanding.
PunkKitty Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 Slammer, from everything I've read on this scheme, it handles single coils well. So it should work great with P90s. I'm trying to figure out how to wire it with 2 volume controls and separate treble and bass.
