RhoadsScholar Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Finally took my VSB 157 out for a jam ... This thing is a Rock n Roll Machine !
schundog Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Bob, you are a mountain of a man, at 6'8" or so, that would make ANY guitar look diminuative. That said, SRV would be proud of how you covered that tune...
Yooper Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Does playing my 157 make me look PHAT ? Dunno. Wuz lookin at da guitar. Now THAT's what it's about!
skydog52 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Nice Bob! You are definitely sounding Phat, And you're giving me the fever. Nice job buddy.
lb61906 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 You are rockin that guitar LIKE A BOSS!!!! That's how you look!
bolero Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 that was great, I like the sound of those humbuckers on that tune, it's very refreshing after hearing 1,000,000 strats playing it, heh nicely done!!
Glide Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Nice! Looks like fun. Thanks for sharing. Your Phatness suites you well. What amp were you running it through and pedal if any?
MartyGrass Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Details! Strings, pedals, amp. Nice, nice! Great crunch.
RhoadsScholar Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 No pedals, Just using my trusty Mustang III amp. Modified the Stadium preset it comes with to match the output of humbuckers (turn the gain down and use the master volume to bring the signal back up, knocks off a little distortion). GHS 10 to 42s on the strings and that magic mojo from Parson's Street...
RhoadsScholar Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 There is one pedal I will do without. I usually just use it in True Bypass mode, but if things don't sound quite right, I will engage this pedal. It doesn't help the sound much, but it makes me feel better.
gpuma Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I need two of those! Along with a "musicality enhancer" (me-4) and "technique booster" (tb-2)
Millennium Maestro Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I think you belonged in this picture! I sent this picture off to The Lord of the Rings producers but they already had enough Hobbits....
RhoadsScholar Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 I think I need a Millie to join the club !

TalismanRich Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 IT sounds great and looks like FUN! What could be better. Well done, Bob.
RhoadsScholar Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 Mustang III?! Haven't you been paying attention, Bob?! Apparently they only yield sterile, thin, uninspiring tone!!!! Shundog, you and I have the best of both worlds when it comes to amps. Mustang III's and Brian's 5E3 Tweed Deluxe's ... You can't fault good taste
