mtpatty Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 I like Bare Knuckle's pickups and Tim is great, always eager to answer my questions. I have had great results with a Riff Raff and Mother's Milk while I did find the Rebel Yell a one-trick pony. But it was great for that 80s like rock sound. I will probably order a Stormy Monday some day soon. Funny enough the BN pickups I have tried have all been Alnico 5 but I used them for very different things tone-wise and their vibes were all different. The Mules are A4's and the Stormy Monday's are A2's- the Abraxas set is also A4's... I like the A2 magnets in the Burstbucker 1,2, and 3's...i had the 2/3 in a LP and it was a great sound! Good luck! mark555 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 I have Seymour 59's in my 555 and they are pretty good for me. There is a lot of interesting stuff here in this thread, very good indeed.
AamerKhan Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 Wolfi, those Amber pickups sound good! First time i hear of them but they are something I will have a look into now. I will be in Berlin in August so will probably try and find a retailer stocking them. And I do like Gregor's videos, have seen quite a few of them. Lots of great suggestions here! Thanks a lot guys !! I will probably buy 2 or 3 different bridge pickups to start off with over the next month or so and do some A/B comparisons. Will post sounds when I'm done.
