brentrocks Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 The stock Schaller pickups were just not getting it done in my H 357 Firebird. A good friend of mine had a Seymour Duncan INVADER bridge laying around and said i should try it, that it was a great sounding pickup. This Invader meters at 16.6 ohms. Then to top it off, i found an old Duncan JB neck! Since i was tearing into it, I decided to put all new 500k CTS pots in it and .022 Russian PIO caps in it too. What a huge difference in tone...not muddy, like the Schallers were in this guitar. This guitar is pretty dark sounding as it is....because it is all mahogony. The Invader is a great Rock pickup! Wonderful note definition, very pick responsive. The JB neck is EXTREEMLY FAT...creamy and warm! These 2 are a great combo!!!! :-) Here are a couple shots....and a new family shot....
Redsand Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Looks like a noise complaint waiting to happen!!!
FredZepp Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Dang..... nice family portrait there. I can see why you have a reduced GAS level, there are many there that are inviting guitars to grab and play. And the changes to the 357 should make it a rocker...
smaj Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Looks like my buddy Matts guitar photo's Brent, everyone in the bridge position, lol . I tell him to buy a Les Paul Jr. and be done! Nice family pic too.
Number8 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I like the rugged look of that puppy. You should leave the pick-guard. Looks gritty and mean.
brentrocks Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 Which Bad Cat is that? Happy NADs! that is the Cougar 50w...it was a Musician Friend "stupid deal of the day"
RhoadsScholar Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 That guitar should Rawk now. Would be cool to see another video to compare the differences. Hoping to see that 367 at the HOC this year
