Hi, I think this is my first post. Thought I'd share

1st solo is mine on the H-150 ... with a few clams at a local jam. The 2 guys after me really tear it up.

Yumm - nice first post, Dog!  Vintage Sunburst? - some nice pics.  What are the pickups?  Man that's a sweet looking 150.  I'll need to wait till later to listen to the clips, but thanks for posting those, too!!

Kudos for sticking your neck out!  Very, very nice looking 150!  That's the way I like 'em...subtle color and curl, and nickle that's getting just a tad tarnished.  Nice one!  Welcome to the HOC.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a vintage sunburst color.

The photos show the seth lover pickups that came in the guitar. (also the magnet flip and pu turned around ala Peter Green on neck pickup)

The 1st clip clip is with this setup in the middle position.

Second clip is with Sheptone pickups - lead and one or more of the rythm guitars. There's also a strat in there somewhere...

Woof.

Yeah, in listening to the first clip, I could tell you had that P. Green out-of-phase thing going on.  Nice volume on that solo, too...way down.  Not many (enough) players have the discipline for that.  Makes what you're doing with the p'ups much more audible, too;  all guitar, not all amp and pedals!  Nice contrast to the cat who followed you....    8)

Hey, cool - another pickup connoisseur!  I like Seth Lovers and came close to getting some of Shep's blue skys, but went w/Bareknuckle stormys instead.  How do you like the Sheps as compared to the Seths?  Do a google on Throbak and check out his new pickup line wound on a machine that he found on the Heritage site... sound very cool!  Heard them just a bit and they sound great - am looking forward to trying them out.

Ditto those thoughts.  That is some kind of awesome vintage SB top.  Only gonna get better with time too.  I still think VSB is my fav color on the H150, hands down.  (and I have an Antique SB H150, not that I feel inferior :)

I went for the VSB on my 158 also. weird thing is it seems a lot subtler than it does in this pic. I'm looking forward to it evolving over time.

I love the Seth Neck, and Seth Neck + bridge when out-of-phase ala Peter Green. Otherwise the Seth bridge pup sounded thin on it's own and not great when combined with the neck pup in-phase - in THIS guitar, which is a bright guitar to begin with, YMMV.

The Sheptones are great. The bridge pup sounds/works way better in this guitar - full and clear. The middle position really gets a sweet honk thing going.

I also got different magnets to swap in and try out. I ended up with A-4s in neck and bridge.

I highly recommend getting some different magnets and experimenting with them for different tones in a pickup.

I've found that different magnets have a large impact on the tone and feel and it's a cheap & easy thing to try.

I've read about the Throbaks and the winding machines etc, very cool stuff and very interested.

Nice! My 150 is the same honeyburst. I do find your sound rather thin though (and you have noticed many folks here don't find that!). Imo one doesn't need a heavy mahogany-maple sandwich log of a Les Paul for that. Could be the recording too. The overall feel of the tune with all the background noises is great - what an atmosphere! Keep posting these clips, dude, but beware that many members here have slow connections which makes it hard for them to listen.

Hi Dog, thanks for posting the clips.  I have a 150 in VSB as well.  I have the Schallers though.  What amp are you playing through?  What is you effects chain?

Wow, that's a beauty!!!

Amp is a Frenzel 5e3 Deluxe Plus. 6V6s and a 5UGB rectifier running through a 1x12 Avatar cab. No pedals, straight into the amp.

Your setup sounds thinner than a LP through a 5E3, is it because of the Peter Greene mod?

Welcome to the Club! Just listened to the first clip and I don't have a problem with your tone or playing at all. Is that you playing that flurry of crazy 32nd notes or is that the second guy?  I'm thinking that's the second guy...nice technique. Same with the third solo.  But, you know, I don't think a slow blues jam calls for a million note solo. But, maybe that's just me.  Dunno.

Anyway, I liked both clips of your playing. +1 for actually playing and posting a link!

Hey Dog, after reading Dick's post it occurred to me that it could be taken that I didn't like your tone.  That's not the case, it's just that you mentioned the PG mod and I was wondering if that was why it sounded different than what I expected.  Didn't mean to insult your tone or your playing.
