skydog Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 These are entertaining, informative, and amusing if nothing else! In the blind test I picked the 60 as # 1, the Heritage as #2, the Tokai at 3, Hines LP copy #4, and lastly (gasp) the '58 GT. YMMV < In the one listed here I picked them in the same order and it wasn't blind test. Have fun with it but remember it's not cast in stone! p.s. I see now where this has been posted before but this is what I heard
DetroitBlues Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Hard to tell which is which. I loved three the most, followed by one then four. Two and five weren't that great.
TalismanRich Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Fun tests. Subtle difference, but you can hear the family resemblance. Having listened a few times, I think 2 and 4 are the Gibsons but don't know which is which. Heritage is probably #1, don't have a clue about 3 and 5, since I've never heard them on their own.
JeffB Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Who is Doug and Pat for gosh sakes? couple of guys with a passion for guitars, Brown Sugar, British amps and the LP forum. And beanies.
koula901 Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 I love it when one of the guys says to the other, "You're makeup looks great"!
MuDBoNe Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Over at the LPF they posted the results of everybody's opinion on the guitars. The Heritage did well in the results.
TalismanRich Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Was there much crow served? I've seen these types of things done with high end audio where comparisons were done using cable ,etc. After the results are revealed, the "yeah, now I hear out the $1000/m cable brings out the clarity, removes the veils, give more "air", makes the silence more black, etc." If that was true, why did you pick the 14 gauge zip cord from KMart the first time?
MuDBoNe Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 I cut and pasted this result from the Les Paul Forum
DetroitBlues Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Wow, I liked the Heritage and the Tokai the best....

Hey Chris, The guitar in the test is actually the one I used for my HOC avatar. I made it for myself and Pat talked me out of it. I played it a while back when it had WCR's in it, but now he has a Seth Lover in the bridge. Did they give the results yet? I'm not a huge Seth L fan.
bolero Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I was just looking for that...looks like they did: results: 1.heritage 2.1960 les paul 3. tokai 4. 1958 les paul 5. replica funny I thought the tokai was the '58
hinesarchtop Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Thanks. I liked the 58 or #4 the best. I was hoping that was mine! I've got another one ready to spray, and my new one right behind it. Can't wait to play it through the Marshall!!!
