Anybody know what model this pickup is? - 2

I've been wondering what pickup is in the neck position of my 535. There's a seymour duncan (not sure which model) in the bridge and it sounds like a pile of rubbish compared to the neck pickup.

It doesn't look like the photos I've seen of heritage pickups though... Does anybody know what pickup this is and where I can get another one?

Oh, thanks for letting me know.

Still huge, but at least (barely) manageable this time :)

Wouldn't it be easier to just pull the pickup and see what it says on the back? Loosen the strings, unscrew the pikcup surround from the body and take a look. Then when done, just screw the pickup and surround back into the body. Lots of pickups look the same, it's the printing on the back that tells the story.

Come on man, I'm not that stupid, that's the first thing I did :)

I'm trying to post a photo of the back of the pickup, because I have no idea what it is. There's just a signature and a serial number on it.

OK, posting this again. Hopefully with the photo this time.

So, it's an antiquity and not a Seth Lover, right?

I never thought that Seymour Duncan could sound this good...

Seth Lovers usually have the SH55 tag and signatures for both Seymour and Seth. More likely they are Antiquities. They should be similar since they are both supposed to be PAF clones, but I think the Antiquities are a little lower output than the Seths.

Neither will be potted. Antiquities are hand wound.

BTW, the best way to post from Dropbox is to go to your public folder and choose DROPBOX .... Copy Public Link. Then on your reply icons, click on the picture frame icon (usually to the right of the little chain link) and paste the URL into the address.

I use Dropbox for my picture postings all the time and it works great. You can also post MP3s from Dropbox.

Does it look like the cover has been off? Hard to tell on my phone but that solder doesn't look stock?

I don't think so, the visible solder joint looks nice and clean. Anyway, it doesn't matter, because it sounds just great the way it is :)

Thanks for the advice. With that I think I'll manage to get it right next time.

And thanks for the info on the pups. The photos by SouthpawGuy were very useful and everybody's clarifications were very helpful. Gonna get me a second one of those for the bridge then.

I would expect them to sound great. What did you mean when you said the bridge sounded like rubbish?

What makes you think the p'up is responsible...?

What I meant was someone may have modded it

Is the other pup an antiquity as well?

No, the other one looks different. It just has the seymour duncan logo stamped on the back plate and nothing else. It also has a plastic lead wire and not the braided one like the antiquity does. I have no idea what that one is...

The seller said that the neck pickup had been switched on the guitar, but he obviously got that one wrong then.

The bridge is something else. I mean it's another seymour duncan, but not an antiquity or a seth lover, because the back looks different (see my answer to bolero).

It sounds thin compared to the bridge. I know the bridge will sound trebly anyway, but it's more than that... it has no body to it compared to the neck.

Because I definitely don't play that good ;)

I enjoy playing guitar, but I have no illusions about that fact that I suck at it.
