SemiHalo Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 http://www.premierguitar.com/Gear/Guitars/Electric_Solid_Body/3135139/H_157_CM_Ultra_Top.aspx (sorry, but i cant upload to save my life) I made the serious error of buying a 2012 Gibson Les Paul 1958 reissue. I pay so little attention to what is going on in Gibby world that I had never heard of the laminated rosewood boards. It was discounted a bit and now I know why. It looked good, sounded good, but has a p.o.s. laminated fretboard. Geez, the fret tangs pierce the upper laminate and there is apparently a tongue of binding between the edges of the two boards. I have never heard of something so silly on a historic reissue. I returned it immediately and made the smart decision to pair up my 555 with this beautiful guitar. Gibson just kills me. I could buy a plain top 2013 r8 with an "upgraded" one piece board?! Ha! For only $4499! What a bargian, I'll take three of them. How can they mess up like that? How does Epiphone have one piece boards? How can they change the specs on their reissues every year? Do they not have an example of a fabulous old guitar and then can they not just get it right and keep making that one? I guess not. Thank goodness that at least one company does it the right way the first time.
smaj Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Very beautiful guitar. may you enjoy many hours with it!

SemiHalo Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 heritage guitars. when a gibson just isn't good enough...... X 50. i seem to have to buy a gibson every couple of years to remind myself of why i shouldn't buy them. i was and still am brain-washed by having watched 'the song remains the same' multiple times under the influence of hallucinogenics as a teenager. oh well.
heritagefan7 Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Great Git! Beautiful. Sorry about the Gibby...a shame. Dream of a 157!
TalismanRich Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Great looking 157.. they just have a classy look to them, don't they?
SemiHalo Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 for those who own one, do you find the 157 a heavy guitar? i like this style of guitar to be solid, substantial and heavy for the feel and tone.
RhoadsScholar Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Love it. I felt the same way about a new gibson. Ended up with a 157. You won't look back...
