jimbo Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Hello, I am a new member. I purchased a Heritage H-574 from a friend. I called the Heritage Co. and was told this guitar was a prototype with only a few being produced. The serial number on the headstock is H16604. The color is Vintage Orange. The guitar is in very good condition with only the expected surface scratches on a guitar of this age. I have a hardshell case but it is not original. I am trying to determine the fair market value of this guitar. Due to a recent purchase, I am considering selling this guitar. I would appreciate any information anyone could provide. My email address is jwsmith@surry.net. Thanks in advance for your help!
brentrocks Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 sounds like the one that was on ebay a couple weeks ago? prototype? i'm not sure of that?
Dick Seacup Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Welcome to the Club, Jimbo! Any details you can provide would help. It's interesting that the factory would tell you it's a prototype, and yet it has a stock serial number. OTOH, I don't know that they did anything to denote a prototype on the headstock (and maybe not even on the label), so there you have it. Your best bet is to post some pictures and details and see what shakes out. At any rate, welcome!
jimbo Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 Hello, Thanks for your response. Here are some pictures of the H-574 I decribed earlier. Copy of 100_6494.JPG Copy of 100_6494.JPG_thumb

fxdx99 Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Hi Jimbo - welcome to HOC! I was going to refer you to a recent ebay listing as reference, but I see from the pics that you're well aware of that one ;D Good question of what it's market value is and nice research by you to lead you to the HOC forum. The used market in general has taken a recent downturn in values and in some cases have seen some great deals on models as compared to just a few months ago. Don't know that I can guess on a value of a 574 since it is a fairly low volume model so not a lot of baseline data to go by. I assume you contacted the higest bidders on your ebay listing and offered it for sale to them at some price that you're looking for...?
jimbo Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 Thanks for the reply FX, After talking to the person at the factory, I decided to end the auction on ebay because he felt my reserve was to low. I may relist the guitar unless there is anyone out there that would be interested.
big bob Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 was that the guitar with the headstock repair.
fxdx99 Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 was that the guitar with the headstock repair. - don't think so. Wasn't in the description as such. This was the "kinda looks like a Gretsch" guitar with it's orange finish. Nice looking axe.
