tulk1 Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Hi. First post here. Just recently got my first Heritage Guitar. And that is after selling off my Gibby's. Not sure how I found this forum. ;D But, what the heck. Any chance to show off this beauty. Got to say, I'm firmly in the Heritage family, now. Found this slightly used H157 while actually shopping for tubes. Couldn't pass it up. It's not only (to my eyes) one of the most beautiful guitars I've seen, but it plays like a dream. Anyway, here it is, my '05 Heritage H157. http://eriador1.com/h157/h157-fullbod.jpg[/img]
Dick Seacup Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Jeebuz, that has the classic look! Is that a one piece top? It's hard to tell if it's book matched or not. Either way...sharp!
davesultra Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Beeeeeeyooo-tifull !! Welcome to 'da club. I'm pretty new around here too. 8)
golferwave Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Wow! Don't ever let go of that one. It's drop dead gorgeous!
tulk1 Posted October 25, 2007 Author Posted October 25, 2007 Thanks, all. This one is going in the "never gonna sell it" category, for sure. Love the dang thang. It's what my last 3 LPs should have been. BTW, that is a one piece top. Oh ... Any one care to see the H535 I just picked up? ;D
CharlieJ Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Killer, way nice fiddle there mate. Love my 157.
Mikenov Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 that is a sweet looking finish on that guitar. It makes me want to buy another one. The best part about it is how the color compliments the wood grain. Nice!
Gitfiddler Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Wow, what a gorgeous dark burst top! Not too flamey; Not too plain; Just right. I especially like that it is a one piece top AND check out how the flames disapear around the stop tail piece, then start again between the pickups! Very cool indeed.
Assumer Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Love the color. That is a beautiful guitar. Mine is basic black but I love it. Hope you have many wonderful years with it.
tulk1 Posted October 29, 2007 Author Posted October 29, 2007 (snip) check out how the flames disapear around the stop tail piece, then start again between the pickups! Very cool indeed. I hadn't really noticed that. But yeah, it does, doesn't it? I just fall in love with this guitar all over again, every time I play, look at it, show it off, etc.
Assumer Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Man I had to reply again. Took another look, that is so damn beautiful.
tulk1 Posted November 29, 2007 Author Posted November 29, 2007 Man I had to reply again. Took another look, that is so damn beautiful. Thank you. Or, the H-Guys should thank you. . Funny that a reply should show up this morning. I had it out last night putting it thru the paces. I generally play the Strat (country music) but just felt like playing that one. I was offered a straight across trade for a Fender 57 Twin (the new one). I am considering trading, since I've got the H535 to cover the Heritages.
Thundersteel Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 She's a beauty! Reminds me of when I was at Jay's store a couple months ago. There were some customers looking at the H150s/157s, and they said, "Man, Heritage sure makes some beautiful guitars, don't they?"
Kazwell Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 That has got to be the prettiest 157 I have ever seen!!! Period. I usually don't like the gold hardware, but it looks perfect with that finish. Outstanding striping. Play her loud and proud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8)
V23505 Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Beautiful, absolutely beautiful! I have one in Chestnut Burst I bought from Jay in '05, weighs as much as a Humvee, sounds like the voice of God, can't ever imagine selling it. Are those Seths in yours?
tulk1 Posted November 29, 2007 Author Posted November 29, 2007 Beautiful, absolutely beautiful! I have one in Chestnut Burst I bought from Jay in '05, weighs as much as a Humvee, sounds like the voice of God, can't ever imagine selling it. Are those Seths in yours? I haven't played it enough to change the strings. Was going to pull a pup when I do. Bought it used, so no idea what's really in it. I can say they are very powerful. I was playing the H535 last night, which just starts to break up the AC30 quite nicely. Plugged in the 157 and it went right into OD territory. Perceptively, a bit louder. But mostly more punch. Hmmm, maybe a restring is in order this weekend. And maybe a re-eval on trading for the '57 Twin. ARGH!!!! Guess I could sell the McCarty instead. <lol>
tulk1 Posted December 2, 2007 Author Posted December 2, 2007 Put on new strings tonite. Pulled the front pup. Surprise, surprise. Duncan '59s all around!! Not sure where they sit in the scheme of things pickup-wise. But, they're my first SD59's, so I'm a bit psyched. Took this pic of the cavity under the front pup. Looks like mine was routed out for deeper pickups, if the need arises. I know that's been a discussion this week. Any idea what that other route going into the neck is? Here's another little surprise discovery. On the back of the control plate is the model and pups. I had no clue! Wouldn't have had to pull the pickup if I'd known. Says I have a 157 Classic!! Who knew?? Question, tho'. Are all of the Heritage guitars stickered as "Custom Shop"? Or is that a special group/division within the company? Can't quite make out the initials on the sticker, either. Last letter looks like an H; not sure tho'.
Thundersteel Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 All of my Heritages have the same sticker on the cover plate. I've never seen that neck route before, though.
