big bob Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 hey kids, Ive noticed the poles on my singles are spaced wider than the poles on the hum, have you noticed this, do you think an f spaced would fit better. Thanks Bob
Dick Seacup Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Huh, never really noticed, but looking at the only picture I have (that one isn't out this week) that shows them does make it look like the single coil poles are a bit wider. Interesting.
mars_hall Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Mine are wider on the Stat also. i.e. the strings do not go exactly over the pole pieces. The pole spread is wider than the string spread on the singles. Does not seem to make much of a difference on my guitar. The pup outputs are fairly even matched across the guitar.
big bob Posted August 21, 2008 Author Posted August 21, 2008 just curious. I had one hell of a time installing the dimarzio bridge pup, it was too wide. I ended up filing the brass mounting flanges down, and then the pole pieces were too far right. long story short, with plenty of tweeking the hum and single are all centered but the strings skirt the outside of the hum and the inside of the singles. It does not seam to effect tone, but I don't know how it would sound all proper.
jacques Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 my strings of the 162 are way out of range at the (humbucker) bridge side, which isn't what they're supposed to be, but I don't care since the guitar sounds fine.
