zack Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I have been looking around at heritage guitars lately and im looking a buying one. the store wants $3000(same as a gibson lp standard) for a lefty h-150 (australia is expensive) Iv been browsing jerrysleftyguitars and they have an almond sunburst h150 (which im pretty sure is new) for $1799. shes a beauty I noticed on the back of the neck what looks like a blemish: gJust bellow the nut on the right hand side a bit of the paint looks checked or not buffed properly. Im just worried its been dropped and it could be stress damaging the finish. lastly i was wondering if 2010 (serial number AA) model has a long tennon? thanks!
brentrocks Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 looks like overspray on the back of the neck....i would be asking the dealer some questions
Alfonzo Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Talk to Jerry, he's an upstanding guy. I have bought 2 guitars from him and would highly recommend him. I bought a new 150 and it was $2400+ so, either there is a flaw or its used. He'll let you know.
Kuz Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Looks like nitro burn from hanging on a guitar stand that was not nitro safe.
yoslate Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Looks like nitro burn from hanging on a guitar stand that was not nitro safe. Yep....
Guest HRB853370 Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Yep.... Like they really make nitro safe stands? Really?
Kuz Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Like they really make nitro safe stands? Really? Like they really make nitro safe stands? Really? Yep Yep Hercules stands are all I use.
mark555 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I have heard that import taxes on guitars in Australia make them very expensive. The top on the 150 you have posted pictures of looks beautiful, if you can get some discount for the nitro burn maybe it will make the guitar a more attractive price. American guitars are very expensive over here in the Uk, but sometimes, getting the right guitar can be more important than the price. That is of course, if you have the spare money.... Good luck, let us know what you decide to do.
zack Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 Update: I emailed jerry and he Said its new but there is a small chip on the front of the headstock from the latch of the case.
tulk1 Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 yep...? Another way of saying Yes. And then we tend to get silly with stuff, sometimes. Update: I emailed jerry and he Said its new but there is a small chip on the front of the headstock from the latch of the case. Did he send you a pic of the chip? I'd think a damaged "new" guitar isn't new and maybe he could shave more off the price. Just my opinion, and have NO idea what he's already put into the guitar $$-wise.
bolero Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 well, hopefully the "yep"s will evolve into "nice snatch!!"s that is a beauty!!

I have a photo on my phone, he said when he took it out of the case he damaged it and its a old stock guitar. The chip is about the size of a grain of rice, its right on the edge of the headstock, near the d tuner.

The chip is about the size of a grain of rice, its right on the edge of the headstock, near the d tuner. Pre-dinged. Well that would certainly take the stress off putting the first bruise on a new guitar, eh? My Millie developed a small "ripple" like in the picture. Think it was from casing it before the nitro cured. A good buffing took it out. Hasn't reappeared.
koula901 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Like they really make nitro safe stands? Really? yes. That's my 150 that I traded back to Jerry as a down payment for custom ordering the 137 DLX. As long as I owned it, it was on nitro-safe stands, and I sent it to him that way. The picture of the neck is the same picture that I got when bought the guitar. This 150 was custom ordered and came in perfect shape. I don't believe it has since suffered a neck break - that paint on the neck isn't covering anything. If an overspray simply means that they sprayed it too much at the factory, then that's how I got it, but it looked fine to me when I got it.

I don't believe it has a long tennon, though, I've never asked that question.

He'll answer any questions you have, and I've found him to be very reasonable among guitar sellers.
