Was jamming on my 550 yesterday when she snuck up and snapped this photo. Man, I love this guitar! I was comparing it to my 574 and the sound is a bit brighter. I attribute that to the Duncan 59's that are loaded in this one compared to the Schallers in the 574.

Aww shucks Mark.....Can anybody guess the artist on that album cover leaning against my entertainment stand?

And for extra credit points, what is the significance of that album as far as the history of recording technology?

And the first time David Lindley recorded with Ry Cooder!

Will, of all the hollow body Heritages I think the 550 is aesthetically the best of the bunch. IMHO the rounded cutaway on the guitar balances with the top better than all of the other designs. Your's is a particularly nice looking one! I would like to see a blond one with Dogear P90's and nickel hardware!

What, no cassettes?

I wonder if anyone under age 50 knows about Ry Cooder and his many influences. From his work with Taj Mahal, contributions on the Stones' Sticky Fingers, to his great solo albums, to the greatest unknown super-group Little Village, to Cuba's Buena Vista Social Club, to music of Madagascar. And I'm sure I left lots out.

The epitome of taste and style.

Well you do have some nice rigs there Will, but didn't that GT go to your guitar slinging daughter:) And I would like a natural finished

550 with P90's. I like the raunch of the P90's with the rumble of the big hollow body:)

Nice guitar! I am guessing you own about 2 pair of shoes that aren't flip flops....1 pair of motorcycle boots, 1 pair of shoes for when you have to wear a suit or sumpin'.

It could be time we had a support group. I think there's a conspiracy to eliminate them...and my wife is in on it.

You would probably like my 525 with the P90's !! But you cannot have it!! No, my daughter has a 150 special GT, one that I found cheap on Ebay!! Its light enough for her and still gets that great Heritage tone!!

I'm digging the Marantz amp. I have a similar one, Model 2225.

I'll bet yours sounded GREAT with the Bose 901s.

Hey Allan, its a 2250. I also have a 2225 and a 2235 in storage and I just "snatched" a 2275 off Ebay for a great price, to me they represent the pinnacle of the blue dial Marantz era. Btw, I never used my 901's with the Marantz gear. I have a set of Polk floor monitors that I use with the Marantz. When I had my 4000SF house in GA, my basement had a separate "listening" room and that is where the 901's were. They were powered by a Carver M1.5 amp. The 901's handled the 1200 watts/ch peak power just fine.

I had a pair of Jenson bookshelf speakes that just sounded great with that receiver. My mother's been using them for the last 15 years but my guess they probably need to be re-foamed. Right now I've got a set of Bose 301 Series II which are also well matched to that amp.

That said, I've always wondered what a set of 901s would sound like with it. As I recall the 901s didn't require a lot of power to drive all those mini speakers.

As I type this, I'm listening to "Blues for Allah" on a Technics direct drive turntable w/Shure cartridge -all 70's vintage.
