Hello

question about the Heritage neck shape.

I used to have LP classic reissue 60 and les paul custom from 1982 and neck was perfect for my fingers.

I'm still looking for a H150 or H157 and find some guitars.

One is a 2011: Heritage H 150 Classic Light Aged

Neck : 17 degree peghead pitch; 59 Shape one piece Honduras mahogany neck.

Fingerboard : 24 3/4” scale Madagaskar rosewood cream bound fingerboard with 22 frets; mother of pearl trapezoid inlays.

Body : one piece Honduras Mahagony , with solid Ultra carved curly maple top

Electronics : Seymour Duncan Antiquity Paf Pickups with Aged Nickel Covers, CTS Pots, 50's Wiring. NOS Oil Cabs

Hardware : Aged Tonepros Bridge & Aged Tonepros Tailpiece, Groover Kluson Style Tuner

Color: Faded Cherry Sunburst

Can you describe me the feeling of this neck ? This guitar seemed to be a custom order for this shop. It's in Germany, i can no try it so i prefer have your feedback before lol !

Thanks a lot.

Pierre

Welcome, Pierre.

Normally, you can't generalize the neck shape of Heritage guitars. The "standard" thickness has changed some over the years, seeming to get a little thicker in recent years.

The main problem is that so many guitars are custom made. A dealer can request thick necks, or thin necks if that is what his clients normally prefer. If you custom order a guitar, you can get anything from a thin 60s neck to a beefy 58 style neck, or go asymmetrical if you want. Marv Lamb can shape a neck any way you want.

In the description of the guitar you mention, it says "Neck : 17 degree peghead pitch; 59 Shape one piece Honduras mahogany neck." That should mean it has a moderately thick neck,

While some people need a thick beefy neck, or thin shredder neck, I find that I can adapt pretty quickly to most Heritage necks which is generally rounded. The contour fits me much more than the something like the PRS neck which feels squared off to me.

Good luck with your hunt.

Pierre~ Since the 150 you are interested in is for sale at a shop, will they give you an in hand description of the neck profile?

Thanska lot for you complete reply, it helps a lot ^^

Aqs you said, PRS neck feeling is really weird with me, impossible to play...

If I compare a 59 Heritage neck shape to a Gibons R9, the Heritage will be thicker and cool to play I think...

Hope I get one soon, I really love these guitars and it's urgent now !!!!!

Best.

Which shop is it? I might have an H-150 from that shop, that I just bought on eBay from a guy who is actually a bassist. Amesome guitar and surely the one with the fattest neck I ever played. And I have a really small hands... I used to be totally into slim 60s necks, but I'm not sure anymore. This neck shocked me in the beginning. After 2-3 days I took my Gibsons off the wall and they felt weird and tiny. Still good of course. But if I would order a neck now (ask me again in a week :) I would go for this 59 shape. It feels... Hard to say in english since I'm German... But it feels real. Better. Something to fight with, but only during the first minute, after having played a 60s neck directly before. It feels a bit like coming home after never being home before :)

I have 2 Gibson Les Pauls and now my second Heritage (also an H-157 custom in white from 91 or 92). While on Gibson is unbeatable for many reasons (it's a Pickup Test Guitar and very rare, sounds awesome and looks unbelievable), I might never buy a Gibson again.

I hope this was a good impression for you :)post-13310-13695860325908_thumb.jpg

Thanks for the welcome. And yep, it's a 25th Anniversary.

Indeed I chamged the pickguard and mountings, to me the colour was wrong. And I gave her the Joe Bonamassa Pups today, that I actually bought this one far. Guess how cool it now is :)

2400 euros / 3100 USD

Ouch! You could import a used one from the US for a lot less than that. I've done that with a couple of my Heritages.

Find some in USA, but with insurance , shipping and taxes, price is cloth ...And don't want to not decaklre the right value for custom and loose or get a broken guitar.....

I bought this one from a forum member a few years ago. Total cost, fully insured, was under £1400 (maybe 1500?).
