Tuner Question...

are these new shaller locking tuners

 

a direct replacement (no new holes needed)

 

for these older ones?

Looks like they will work. I think the old ones have press in bushing.

I can't tell if the new ones are threaded.

The screw bracket on the new ones look like they are more diagonal downwards where the old ones are more on the side.

I'm not 100% they fit without needing an extra hole or enlarging but I will tell you they are very nice. Had a set on an ESP and loved them. Makes string changes really easy.

If the guitar needs the holes enlarged, take it to a luthier, unless you know what you're doing. Easy to drill them out of round, cosmetically foul up the headstock, or even split the headstock. The job should be done with either a hand reamer or a drill press.
