First choice was Kent Armstrong 12 pole, but those are very expensive and hard to find. Michael Biller sells them at Sound Island, but when i saw the Benedetto's on sale i couldn't justify the big price differential. Regular price the Benedettos are close in price and in quality (love the B6 version in my 575). i just saw/heard Roni Ben Hur play his old Johnny Smith with the Armstrong 12 pole installed. one of the sweetest, purest tones I have ever heard live. Great match of guitar, pickup and player. If you haven't heard Roni's work, I highly recommend it, especially his last album.

I am wondering what Brand, type and gauge of strings you'll be using on the H-576?????

I've used everything from GHS Nickel-Steel to DR Pure Nickel to D'Addario Nickel-Steel to Gibson Alloy strings. I've had flat wounds, round wounds, half rounds and you name it, on this guitar.

What will you be using? I've pretty much stuck with 11-50 gauge in various forms.

Thanks.

I've been playing TI flat wound for some time. I use 12's, usually the George Benson set, but am thinking about trying 13's on this one. Also sometimes play Sadowsky polished round wound or flats.

And you are correct. They are one of the best sounding paf's for jazz on the market. I have them in both my GE (floater) and Sweet 16 (top mounted) and swear by Kent's quality and tone.

Right. Sound Island has a little lower price but at $105 plus free shipping I couldn't pass up the Benedettos.

I bet your archtops sound amazing with these pickups. I might get one for my 575MH.

tsp17,

I am very happy that you like the guitar. The HOC is a great site and I have done quite a few deals here in the last couple of years. You were the only one that showed any interest in it when I had her posted here (for a long time). It is refreshing to see all the positive comments you have received on that gem.

I appreciate your communication to me and I have learned a lot.

Thanks

Absolutely love it. just dropped it off at the tech to put in Bendetto A6 pickups and a fresh set up. Thanks rjs1 for a super transaction.

Gigged with it tonight. The piano player was all over it. He asked about Heritage so I got to tell him the story... Always a good moment.

Plus 11!

Hand wound KA's are the best pups on the market, imo. You can actually buy them for as low as $160 if you look around...what's that on line net guitar supply out of Florida...they had 'em for $160 at one point. I paid $180 for one 6 months back from another dealer...Joe V. at archtop.com marks everything uP! :)
