gpuma Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 This seems an interesting concept especially if you are like me and you'd rather go to the dentist than install a bigsby. Anyone has any experience with this? https://stetsbar.com/
Genericmusic Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 ... if you are like me and you'd rather go to the dentist than install a bigsby They're just a tool. Over the years I tried a lot of different tremoloes. Although I haven't tried the Stetsbar and currently don't have any on my electrics I do consider the Bigsby to be the best.
H Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Schaller do a nice whammy bar too. I think member Nachogrande has a 150 or 535 with one fitted.
DetroitBlues Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I was going to put one on my old Les Paul, but with the Vibromate and Bigsby cost being $100 less, it doesn't seem worth it to me....
SouthpawGuy Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Think big bob had one on a guitar, a Stat DLX hard tail.
SouthpawGuy Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 And here's a thread from a few years back http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/topic/10815-after-a-couple-years-with-stetsbars/?hl=stetsbar&do=findComment&comment=127714 .
High Flying Bird Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Ron (HFB) has one on his 535, I believe. No, it's a Bigsby. It seems to be the heaviest Bigsby I have ever used.
Kuz Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 very fugly I didn't want to be the first to say it.... Another thing I would research deeply is the effect it has on tone & sustain compared to a Bigsby. That is a lot of steel and mass going on there....
big bob Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I installed the "les trem" on the stat Dlx and I had issues with the trem pulling up one the stop tail inserts. It's funny this comes up, as I am seriously considering a bigsby b6 (no top drilling) for the stat Dlx. I just love bigsby, they work just like they should. And No, none of my bigsby equipped guitars has issues with going out of tune.
smaj Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I have put on a few of the Stetsbar trems, the customers who have done that love them. They are very well made, and not as heavy as they look. Very functional !
rooster Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 I'm the guy with the vintage sunburst and the goldtop with the Stetsbars. I've had them for several years, and they work amazingly well. They stay in tune, once you have your guitar set up correctly (there's a bit of back-filing you do on the nuts to decrease the surface area -- a standard thing I always do on tremolo guitars without locking nuts) and if you use locking tuners (I have Sperzels on mine). I think Stets did a great job on the design and machining. As I work in a machine shop, I can tell great quality machine work, and these are the nicest guitar hardware I've ever had. I kept the stoptail on my black-and-tan, as that's my main guitar, but I never have a problem with my Stetsbars. Good stuff.

It looks like a heavy piece of kit.
