yngwieaddict Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Hello I search to find if there is already a topic, but didn't find one. Can you please tell me how to recognize a fake Heritage H150 or H157 ? This will help us and people who want to buy these guitars. I don't think that there are much fake for sale but..... Thanks ;-)
JeffB Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Ive never seen a fake Heritage to examine the differences. "Cheap" fake Gibsons, Gretsch's, Martins etc immediately look wrong with out much more than a casual glance. Im guessing a cheap fake Heritage would be just as obvious. If some one made an expensive copy of any of the above guitars they would be less likely to......actually make it! Without going into specifics, cheap fakes just look immediately and obviously wrong even from the other side of the room as the owner walks through the door with it. Closer inspection can be fun as you look at some of the interpretations of various essential elements in the design.
HANGAR18 Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Sloppy binding around the body and a scarf joint where the headstock would be attached to the neck separately are the first things to look for when you suspect a guitar might be a Chinese made counterfeit. Also, buying a Heritage guitar from a reputable dealer or a used Heritage from a reputable HOC member are good ways to ensure that you don't wind up with a fake guitar.
yngwieaddict Posted June 15, 2013 Author Posted June 15, 2013 Thanks. I'm seeing a lot of fake Gibson (chinese copy) and I wonder if it was the same with Heritage...Just bought one, but I thing it's a "real" one ^^

JeffB Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Not only is it the real thing, its a nice looking guitar.
gpuma Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 it's obviously fake. I'll buy it from you for 50$ seriously... great guitar. Also, if you look at the label under the control cavity, it should be handwritten
yngwieaddict Posted June 15, 2013 Author Posted June 15, 2013 I'll get it on thuesday and I'll check the control cavity, but I think there will be no problem ^^
big bob Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 All the fake Heritages I've seen have a wider headstock that says "Gibson".. Very easy to spot. There are even some Chinese fakes that say "epiphone"
Hodbad Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Definitely original , no one fakes the Heritage smudgy serial number

koula901 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 There is also a 'Prestige Heritage' guitar company out of Canada. The headstock is different.
mark555 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 There is also a 'Prestige Heritage' guitar company out of Canada. The headstock is different. Also Katy, it is a very different guitar, although single cut it s a different shape. By the way Ingwieaddict, you have a very nice guitar....
koula901 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Also Katy, it is a very different guitar, although single cut it s a different shape. By the way Ingwieaddict, you have a very nice guitar.... yes, it's an entirely different company.
TalismanRich Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 There was a thread some time back about placed like TradeTang and ALIEXPRESS which are Chinese online market places for selling fake guitars. The problem with most of these is that they don't even try to make a replica of the guitar. Instead they post pictures of guitars solid on places like Ebay or a dealers website. Even their descriptions will be something like "1989 H-150 Tobacco Burst with SD-59s". The same guitar and picture will show up at half a dozen different "stores". They have such creative names as Lisa Li's Guitar Store. In short, you NEVER want to deal with these folks. IF you happen to get lucky and actually receive a guitar, it will probably be a few steps below an Epiphone, Squire or even a house brand Rogue or Fullerton.
yngwieaddict Posted June 18, 2013 Author Posted June 18, 2013 Also Katy, it is a very different guitar, although single cut it s a different shape. By the way Ingwieaddict, you have a very nice guitar.... Thanks...Just get it today, it's awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
