Hodbad Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Do any of you knowledgable chaps know what make and type of strings Heritage normally fit to their recent stock models, I'm particularly interested, for purely selfish reasons to know which they put on H150s and 555s, but it could be a useful to cover the full range. First one to give the full list will get my geek of the week award
skydog52 Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 GHS, they buy them in bulk. Gauges vary for guitar. Only the people at Heritage know for sure. Maybe? They are nice and close in Battle Creek MI. http://www.ghsstrings.com/
Hodbad Posted June 15, 2013 Author Posted June 15, 2013 Well that's a start, but sure we can do better. I,m a metallurgist by profession and I remember in a brief telephone conversation, Ren asked me about my opinion on a specific alloy , I had to confess that I didn't have a clue , I tend to deal with bigger lumps of steel, but I do know they seriously consider the strings they use, and dont just buy any old crap off the shelf.
H Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 I seem to remember GHS Boomers being mentioned a few years ago. I sourced them here in the UK and was a little disappointed.
Kuz Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 GHS 10s for solid bodies and semi-hollows, GHS 11s for archtops. These are what are shipped from the factory.
pressure Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I've been using GHS Nickel Rockers for years and before Slammer beats me to it, yes I think they are Fab.
DC Ron Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 My NOS Eagle Classic had (rusty) 10s on it. Can't know with certainty that they were factory but the guitar was unplayed. Factory strings are just placeholders anyway. I can't recall ever keeping them more than an hour or two...
bolero Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 whatever came on my 157 are great, haven't changed them yet, it's been about a year? I normally use DR pure nickel blues or whatever they're called
