squawken Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Hey Guys Thinking about changing up my goldtop that has black pup rings and matching pickguard to cream. Can you use the parts from Stewmac or do they have to be G parts? Or is there a better alternative? Thanks!
tonedeaf Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 The Stewmac rings will not have the two hole adjustment -- you will have to drill the two hole if that is what you want. The metal rings are shaped for an archtop, The cream (or any plastic) rings need to be shaped to fit an archtop. Otherwise they work fine.
tulk1 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Ken, is your GT sporting Schaller pups? Can't remember. They should have a threaded hole for a single screw, as well as the double screws. You may have to do a bit of shaping on the new surrounds, depending on the top contour. But you should be able to use just about any pup ring made for an LP, if you're replacing them on an H150 series.

I will post before and after pics when I get the new rings
