Interested in a Prospect

Prospective Prospect owner here. I don't see very many of these for sale on the net. Was wondering how much they retail for. Also how long does it take to get a custom-made one?

I want a semi-hollow and was gong back and forth between a Prospect and a 535. But I really like the smaller size/better comfort aspect of the Prospect. Can anyone comment on the sound differences? I play blues and classic rock, just noodling around the house. Thanks

Ric, you also might want to look at the Millennium DC.

Prospects are great guitars, I had one & regret selling it. it sounded awesome & was super comfortable to hold/play

IMO they are very much like a 535 in sound; mine had a floating center block but there are some without

either way you can't go wrong

...and as Stephen said: millenniums are also great!!

retail roughly $2200; mine took perhaps 8 weeks or a bit longer. i was surprised/pleased how quickly H built it. fine axe.

I have a 555 that I love plying. At first it felt huge, but over time I don't really notice it any more.

Funny thing when I first got it I played with a short strap, you know guitr high upon my body. I have slowly extended the strap as far as it will go so now the guitar sits real low

555, 535 and Prospect owner here. Of the three the Prospect is my fav. It's not really that much smaller than the 555/535. But it just sits so much better. In all, it's my fav Heritage guitar of them all. Not that I've owned a tremendous amount of H's compared to some here. But mine just sings! And the boys did an amazing job on the finish, the fit, everything. Then again, I went thru all the specs with Ren and Marv before I ordered it. So they knew it was coming and what to expect on the order.

As for sound differences, different pickups = different sound. My Prospect is every bit a semi-hollow guitar. It pushes air; you can feel, maybe even see the top moving; has a wonderfully woody tone. Yeah, they do the Prospect right!

I have a Millie DC, as well. It's a bit different than the semi-hollows, as it's semi-solid. I thing that makes a BIG difference. Whereas the Prospect is built in the traditional frame, center block, top/back type build, the Millie insides are one piece, hollowed out. Makes for an interesting hybrid between semi-hollow and solid body. If you have the chance to play both, thats always best. If not, the Prospect should fill the niche for a smaller semi just fine.

Wow. Thanks for all the great feedback. Very helpful.

What kind of humbuckers come standard with the Prospect? Some type of Seymour Duncans?

Way back when we could have told you definitely that they came with Schallers. Now ... probably Duncans of some sort. Stock, most likely '59s. If you're going to order one you can specify the pickups. If they are the same $$s as the stock, they'll just change them. If they're more ... you might have to pay some up charge, you may not. Seth's seem to be a very popular pickup for them. I have SD PhatCats in mine.

My custom hollow/deeper/dog ear P-90/trapeze tail Prospect took six months to get. And, yes, it was worth it. My previous solid center block Prospect was like a little 335. You can't go wrong with one.

I bought mine used from an ad on Craig's list. It was worth the wait and the 175 mile drive to get it. It compares to my ES-335 in playability but I like the body better on the Prospect, it's better balanced and more comfortable in general to play while standing.

If you get one you will not be sorry. Here's a pic of mine.

Another Prospect and 535 owner here ....

My 535 has the solid centre block with Duncan '59s, the Prospect has a floating centre block and unpotted Seth Lovers. The Prospect will feedback sooner than the 535 and the 535 does sound bigger and fatter to my ears.

However the Prospect does sound more open and "airey" and is very comfortable to play, even when seated.

Obligatory gratuitous pic ...

... or to put it another way if the Prospect and 535 both had a solid centre block and the same pickups there probably wouldn't be that much difference between them in tone :dontknow:

OK, I took the plunge. Anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new Prospect with Seth Lovers.

Sounds cool !

Are you going for a custom order ? Solid / floating block ? Finish ?
