jazzblues Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Just a quick question - exactly how far can you go with fretboard inlays at Heritage? I know some models seem to always stick to certain inlays (Golden Eagle clouds, for example), but how far can you take it in a custom model? I've seen blocks, LP-style crowns, and some unique to Heritage (555's usually for example). But can you order crazy, one-of-a-kind inlays? I hate to mention Gibson so much, but such as on the Citation or LP Ultima. One that's a bit of a Gibson staple that I've never seen on a Heritage is the split parallelogram inlay (you know, the classic ES-175 inlay). Have they ever done these? Thanks! Would love pics if you've got 'em.
FredZepp Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 A former employee had this made with hand picked heart of abalone inlays.. now mine.
jazzblues Posted June 26, 2013 Author Posted June 26, 2013 A former employee had this made with hand picked heart of abalone inlays.. now mine. Just... Wow! The binding and headstock also look amazing. Does Heritage still do those headstocks? Any chance you have a pic of the whole guitar?
FredZepp Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 The guitar ( and headstock ) were a one off model named Eagle Centurion. There are certainly some threads here if you want to search.
FredZepp Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 We've seen some custom ordered models with different inlays..
SouthpawGuy Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Thanks Southpaw No problem btw you do know that two of yours are missing inlays ? .....
big bob Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 One of those belongs to Ned now. A fantastic guitar by the way.
DavesNotHere Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 This is the one I just picked up about a month ago. It's not exactly Inlays Gone Wild. but it is a one off. (I just realized that I need to take a better picture)
Dick Seacup Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Split parallelograms are classy. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Gitfiddler Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 If you see something you like at this website, see if Heritage will work something out for you. They are familiar with England's Custom Inlay. http://www.custominlay.com/

(I just realized that I need to take a better picture) Serious question ... was this choice of inlay inspired by the various Ritchie Sambora signature guitars ?

DavesNotHere Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Serious question ... was this choice of inlay inspired by the various Ritchie Sambora signature guitars ? No. I don't believe I've ever seen any of his guitars. The origin of my family name is Bohemian (Czech Republic) and it means star. I have three sons, so the stars represent my three boys. Very cool! Which frets have the star? The first three traps have the stars. I had originally asked Marv to do actual star shaped inlays on the first three positions and that resulted in one of our many "Well I can do that if you want, but think about this..." conversations I think his idea is in better taste.

Steiner Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Talk about a custom custom. That's an awesome idea DNH!

DavesNotHere Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I finally took a few (half way) decent pictures of the 357 inlays,
